I had to wonder when I heard on Today this morning about the power outage in Martin Place if/how that would have affected Channel 7 this morning if they were still broadcasting there to this day.

Maybe broadcast something from Melbourne :stuck_out_tongue:.

Also I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, its amazing what they managed to produce and display back in the day with that same space when you compare what they had set wise and how that old studio looks now :slightly_smiling_face:.

TV stations do have generators, they don’t have a full team sitting in Melbourne who can jump on air at a moment’s notice if the power goes out. If worse came to worse they’d have to go to stand-by programs.

Early 2005 comes to mind, when BCM was still relatively new and cutting edge, that huge power failure and the entire network went down in prime time in Sydney and Melbourne during a high rating Blue Heelers story arc.

From memory, Martin Place’s back-up MCR/playout room hadn’t been set-up yet (it quickly did after this!) and I believe engineers had to go out to the old Epping studios, which were still active for a number of departments for some years at this point. Eveleigh was still half a decade away and not even sure HQ had moved into Jones Bay yet.

Exactly- IIRC one time when there was an outage at Martin Place, they played Border Security repeats.

And I also know that when SA had the blackout in 2016, Seven were sending people out to fill the gas generators in case they ran out when on air.

The show was rickrolled this morning - looked like some classic Katha and Kim dance moves

According to Annette Sharp in her new column in news.com.au, Seven sources say the network favours US Correspondent David Woiwod as a replacement for Matt Doran on Weekend Sunrise.

Additionally, it is reported that Edwina Bartholomew does not want to shift across to Seven News, and would prefer to continue her three-day-a-week arrangement on Sunrise into the future.

Yeah that’s a good decision from Eddy. Staying with the Sunrise Crew

This would mean a return to the Sunrise family which he joined eight years ago.

But could this also mean flying in and out of Sydney, as I know he used to be based in Melbourne prior to shifting Stateside?

No reason why he couldn’t move to Sydney for the job

Clint does it weekly for Weekend Today.

Good choice by Eddy.

David is an interesting tip. But I would definitely be more keen on him in the role than someone like Liam Tapper.

Expect Christmas Trees and decorations tomorrow.

Today peaked early.

Yes. The tradition is trees go up 1 December. Any earlier is annoying to most.
