The set looks less clinical. No dominant whites, which is good.
Do we know why they are in Melbourne?
The problem with an audience is the 5:30am start. Only the diehard would be interested so filling seats would be a major issue.
If you do that then itâs less a news show and more a chat show. I wouldnât like that at Breakfast.
Itâs bad enough that they have too many talking heads at the desk and on the couch so that itâs becoming more like Studio 10.
Its funny, I find the Game Day set now makes the show feel dated where as the difference was less noticeable last time they were down. I like the new set feels like 2016 (though I get some people calling it clinical).
Thereâs not many seats there IIRC. I was in the audience the day after Mel announced that she was leaving and I think that there are 30 seats give or take. I think you needed to arrive 30 minutes prior to the show commencing. I remember looking through the glass windows in the cafe and seeing Nat present the Early News (at that time Melbourne didnât have the video wall). On the way to the studio you had a birds eye view of the news set if you looked through the window.
Anyone else think the Docklands multi-purpose set studio, is rather elegant and nice?
I really liked it this morning. Worked well
My guess is so that they can get some exposure in the city.
Personally, I think Sunrise shouldâve broadcasted from Melbourne while Martin Place was being done up or at least waited until a few months after the current set in Sydney was launched. Itâs way too soon to be doing broadcasts on location weeks after launching a new set IMO!
What does it matter if itâs only a few weeks after a new set was launched, to be interstate for one day?
Nobody is tuning into Sunrise today going âoh no I wanted to see more of the set and now I will have to wait til tomorrow, well over to 9 it is.â
I like the new Sunrise set, graphics etc. I would like to see more wide shots so I can get a gist of where everything is placed in relation to each other.
Somethingâs not right with Sunrise though⌠The show just seems to have lost its spark. I can have it on in the background and not much seems to grab my attention these days.
WS is a different story. I think itâs ticking along nicely.
I love that Eddy is going to the Oscars this year and not Sam. The look on Samâs face said it all when she said âSam you went last yearâŚâ.
Eddy is really grating on me. Sheâs so smug about so many things. Send her back out on the road.
Not sure how new this is, but I just noticed there is a new desk logo as well as the pop-up sunrise. Sorry about the quality, from the livestream:
IMO, Sunrise lost its spark many years ago.
That description describes someone else for me anyway!
The pop up sunrise has been there from the start, you just generally donât see it because of the tight shots, however that logo on the desk is new:
Also, Sally Bowrey is very good & entertaining during her entertainment pieces. I donât watch sunrise during the week, but the weekend version is tolerable.
Dilemma for me is that even though Sunrise has lost its spark, all of the presenters on Today grate on me, so switching channels is not an option.
Yes I know, thanks @killy06. I know I didnât make it very clear but the use of âthe pop-up sunriseâ indicated I am referring to something already existing. If I said âThere is also a new desk logo as well as a pop-up sunriseâ would indicate that I thought it was new. Why I added in about the pop-up, is in case someone thought I meant that I was referring to that or that it was replaced with the word âsunriseâ.

Weekend Sunrise is great. Great mixture of news, discussion, segments and entertainment.
sunrise is being shot in HD from Mel today.
Most of the cameras seemed HD although a few camera shots switched to SD yesterday
Finally the logo is actually shown somewhere, the logo should of been on the desk in the first place!
I really think the desk design has let the set down.
The pop up Sunrise in front of it is barely seen or noticeable, the desk looks way too cramped on screen and the use of the cameras up the side of the news presenter shows it seems to be an awkward desk to sit at.
I canât see this set or at least the desk lasting anywhere near as long as the other one.
I canât stand watching Nat shout her way through a news bulletin proper. I know a lot of the 55+ demo watches Seven, but stillâŚ
Duran Duran theme is back. Yay. Common sense prevails. Now it sounds like Sunrise again!
