Studio 10

Could either of them hold a candle to Baby John?

Tony Barber could

Was Rob Elliot the last good host of WOF?

Why are we talking about Wheel Of Fortune?

Jesse Baird is also another casualty of the show being axed. He was originally part of Totally Wild and moved over to Studio 10 when that was axed. He’s a good talent so hopefully he stays within the network?

She was the last original cast member but maybe they needed to go back to basics.rather than stick to the two hosts on the couch, Maybe they should have gone back to the four talking heads at the desk concept. Might have saved the show.

Since he does infomercials on Studio 10 , he could potentially do that across all networks.

He only started doing them not long ago though their usual producer and presenter (her name I cannot remember) but I saw she was unable to attend the birthday celebrations. I think Jesse was stepping in for her as he was more a roving reporter prior

Do everything else she’s been doing when she’s not filling in on Studio 10? Doesn’t she have that Budget Battler show on Nine for next year too?

Been reading news.com.au again? I don’t watch much tv but I don’t see anything wrong with The Project.

I went down a rabbit hole the other day and read through the old Studio 10 forum. Thank you for all of the support people here showed us in the early days.

It was an amazing show to work on and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity.

Here’s to the good times!

And there’s no doubt that having you on these forums providing us with your insight brought viewers to the show (myself included)

Cheers. That means a lot.

I happened to work a week on the show at its peak and it was like working on real telly - unlike a lot of Australian TV I did afterwards. You should be proud.

I think that the biggest problem for Studio 10 was it was too long. At one point it was 4 hours each weekday but 2 and a half hours on weekends.

I have thought for a while now, Studio 10 should have been no more than 3 hours a day in original content, with the Sunday edition being a highlights program.

In addition to that, I think there should have been a 1 hour highlights program in the early afternoon (after Dr Phil on weekdays and The Living Room on Saturday) called Studio 10 Express - this program could have been encored on a secondary channel and/or screened on the main channel the next morning pre-Studio 10 (the Saturday edition could have been screened early Monday morning)

Yes, but Budget Battlers is only four episodes. It will only take 1-2 months to film.

Most of its run was only 3.5 hours, which puts it no longer than the breakfast programs?

It was relatively cheap to produce and added local content to 10, which they really needed.

Weekends were always highlights programs of the week? Same as the other morning shows, no different.

So the program was too long during the day in first run and in highlights on the weekend, but they should have shown highlights the same day in the afternoon? A lot of contradictions here.

Doesn’t matter, the show is ending soon anyway.

It isn’t a contradiction mate.

The highlights show would be an opportunity to show off the product in a condensed form to try and entice viewers.

An episode of new content on Saturday would have been a point of difference because the other 2 morning problems don’t do this.

Your statement that “weekends were always highlights shows”, this may be true for Studio 10 and the morning show offerings on the other stations - BUT - how many days over the weekend do Nine air of Today Extra highlights? Did I hear say 1, being Saturday? Exactly!!!

Studio 10 needed to be bold and different.

Unfortunately we will never know if any ideas presented by any of us would work now because Ten have axed a long time institution on Ten with no firm commitment to anything similar at this stage

Not sure how much of a point of difference it would have been, it’s retinue speak for itself and thr way fucked it, I doubt a Saturday show would have lasted. But we are speculating on something that didn’t happen.

Upon reading Rob’s article it definitely was Tens fault. They always seem to mess with a show that clearly was working, Rob should be proud of Studio 10 before the crap they introduced once he let. It was just never the same.
I did like some things but whiting Kerri Anne was a mistake, surprised no one at the team picked it up. Given her view on Aboriginal people and the stolen generation it was just… watching a train wreck. Like Meghan McCain on The View.

It might be speculation, but what is a FACT is that an employers biggest asset is it’s personnel. If people like your personnel, people will be returning customers. Essentially, we as tv consumers are the customers of their business, if we aren’t there, the business won’t be around. We need a reason to come back.

This is why Hendo lasted so long on Nine News, similar scenarios for David and Karl at Nine at present.

I think replacing staff is part of the reason for The Project struggling (obviously other issues too, but one big issue is retaining staff).

In business HR has the attitude, no one is irreplaceable, which is true, but will the replacement match the success of the predecessor? Similarly, will the replacement programs match or beat the predecessor of the axed program?
