According to the media Andrews is simultaneously unpopular and has a cult-like following. Right.

I think NSW is going to be closer than people think - the libs have a lot of skeletons that will haunt them - Couple that with the ā€œits timeā€ factor and it could be bad news for them

Did anyone watch the debate? I thought it was a clear win for Dan Andrews. Matthew guy looked very uncomfortable and fake, especially when he was forced to go off script. he has a very creepy smile when he thought the camera wasnā€™t focused on him.

But mostly an unremarkable debate, I donā€™t think there will be many headlines from it. Which is a win for the party ahead in the polls.

I saw snippets on Twitter. Lobster guy clearly has had enough judging by his facial impression and his answers were very weak whilst Dan just fired shot after shot. He was almost unresponsive every time Dan countered his points. I have more problems with the cheap set up of the debate than the actual thing itself.

On an unrelated note, one of my former high school classmate is in Melbourne studying and ever since she moved sheā€™s turned into a rabid, far-left personality who goes around with similar ā€˜socialistsā€™ (as they call themselves) to protest everything and everything. Their views almost make the Greens look right wing by comparison. I wonder why the Liberals havenā€™t had a go at these folks who are the real ā€˜leftiesā€™ that they all love moaning and complaining aboutā€¦oh wait that doesnā€™t suit their political agenda.

Pretty clear that the opposition is targeting Labor for the sake of targeting them and Andrews instead of actually doing productive things and calling out the extremists on both the left and the right.

Daniel Andrews seemed disappointed he wasnā€™t getting any debate. It was an exercise of muscle memory for someone that deals with Rachel Baxendale and Julia Bradley on a daily basis.

SRL seems to be a hot topic at the moment. I canā€™t help to think, its a hot topic between the two parties, and thatā€™s it. The voters donā€™t really seem to care about it.

It is the first major project really that any major party in this country has committed to for the long term planning. We are a failure as a nation when it comes to long term infrastructure spending. I am all for the SRL.

Not sure why it is so expensive though, plus with the longer time frame it appears it will end up being a $200 billion project. Projects are too expensive and still so slow in this country. It is obvious state and federal governments arenā€™t managing funds properly.

I did not realise Victoria has that kind of spare change lying around.

Weā€™re also building complex infrastructure in highly-constrained environments.

Cool - letā€™s cut wages and make people work longer and see where that gets us then.

Wages are not the only cost. There are also costs from reports, consultants, efficiencies and gold plating.

Private businesses know governments are an easy target for inefficient effort based on inflated contingencies, lack of ownership because of desiring not to rock the boat. While serving a purpose in some ways , bureaucracies also need to be more closely managed to ensure value for money.

My only issue with SRL is that there is no station planned for Templestowe. Itā€™s a PT black hole that could desperately use a train station. The tunnel will go right underneath without a stop.

Iā€™m fairly certain the headline figure also includes up to 50 years of running it which is often overlooked in those who are against it. For me itā€™s a now or never proposition,itā€™ll only get more expensive over time and we have stuffed up so many rail projects over the yeats itā€™s important to get this done and get it right for the future.

I mean itā€™s going to need to be built at some point. If itā€™s not now it is clear it wonā€™t be until next century. Normal by Australian standards but too late as reality has already set in mid this decade. We will be falling apart the back half of this century.

Melbourne is going to be a huge place going into 2100s and beyond.

Latest Roy Morgan polling predicts Labor will lose eight seats in Saturdayā€™s Victorian election, but will still retain a small majority in the lower house.

The sooner this election is over the better. Over the media.
Media having a field day that Premier Andrews casted an early vote.

Wait until they find I voted early too and outside my electorate :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Itā€™s very unusual though. And on the point about him not voting in his own electorate, is he too nervous to face his own constituents in Mulgrave?

Efficiency is the name of the game, if that is where he was, well at least he voted.

This sentiment doing the rounds (mostly by the Libs and the SkyNews hacks) is completely ridiculous. As if appearing (or not appearing) at a booth on the day of the election is going to change anything.

Considering weā€™ve seen anti government protesters calling for him to be turned to red mist and gallows being paraded outside his workplace Iā€™m not at all surprised heā€™s voting early and without media coverage. If thatā€™s the level of threats weā€™ve publicly seen, Iā€™d hate to see what comes his way that isnā€™t released to the public. Itā€™s really quite sad what these ā€œfreedomā€ types have turned Australia into.

Oh and Iā€™m also reminded Matthew Guy voted at a prepoll in 2018, so you know, maybe Andrews just followed the precedent Guy himself set.
