Stan Sport

This seems ok as a start.

So the audience appears to be up on well up on what Foxtel was getting, according to Sneesby.

Stan has “2.3 million active subscribers”, so there is huge potential to attract more sport subscribers if they can expand the range of sports that are available. The tennis will be the first expansion.

The tennis would be huge. I would upgrade during different tennis tournaments.

ATP Tour and WTA Tour outside of the Australian Open and Grand Slam events are signed with BeIN Sports Australia.

Expect Stan to get the US Open next year when the rights expire with ESPN.

Especially if Aussies progress well and Kyrgios, Barty, etc. Let alone other mega names, thrillers and finals. But otherwise, could be a bit niche outside the AO.

Wimbledon and French especially still needs a big FTA broadcast push, IMO. What about 9Now? Will they block live streams.

Nine isn’t blocking the live stream on 9Now for the Super Rugby.

Doesn’t ESPN’s US Open broadcast deal cover the whole world? It is also the host broadcaster of the tournament.

It doesn’t. For example, Amazon Prime has the rights in the UK

Mike Sneesby says Stan has “quickly become Australia’s largest reaching sports streaming platform”.

I thought it covered some countries with ESPN and we’re were one of them. The deal ends this year so we’ll see what happens.

Has anyone been able to find how long the BEIN Sports deal is with the ATP?

That’s just flat out false considering Kayo (at the end of 2020) had 624,000 paying subscribers

Sneesby also said at the Macquarie Australia Conference that while the number of Stan Sport subscribers was ‘slightly lower’ than expected, the average revenue from each subscriber is ‘slightly more’ than anticipated.

That’s massive 150,000 subscribers in a few months for 1 sport only. They surely will expand the number once they get more sports in the future.

Stan is recruiting a senior sports producer.

According to the Nine Newspapers, Stan Sport were the highest bidder for the Champions League rights after Sports Flick. As such, they’re currently in discussions with UEFA about the rights

Interesting. The A-league could end up with Ten/Paramount+, Champions League with Nine/Stan Sport and the Socceroos/Matildas with Seven.

What this shows to me is that there is no network that is fully committed to broadcasting soccer
