Stan today announced it has secured the most anticipated fight in global boxing, Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte on Sunday 24 April, which pits Britain’s two top heavyweights against one another at the iconic Wembley Stadium. This WBC heavyweight championship fight will be available to purchase exclusively on Stan Event following its hugely successful launch in March with Turf War: Sonny Bill Williams v Barry Hall.

Tyson Fury , The Gypsy King (31-0-1, 22 KOs), returns to the ring on home soil for the first time in almost four years to defend his world title in front of an expected record-breaking sporting crowd at the iconic Wembley Stadium. Meanwhile, Dillian Whyte (30-2, 19 KOs) finally gets the heavyweight title shot he has waited years to secure, and while Fury has been his usual rambunctious self, Whyte’s muted approach has raised many eyebrows in the boxing world.

Stan Director of Sport Ben Kimber said:
“Stan Event is only weeks old, and already we’re showcasing some of the world’s biggest global boxing events, the highly anticipated world heavyweight title bout between two superstars. Fury v Whyte is not just one of 2022’s biggest sporting events, with Fury in the ring it will be entertainment from start to finish. Stan Event is incredibly proud to follow up our debut fight between Sonny Bill Williams and Barry Hall with another superb boxing event. The boxing game is changing in this country.”

Fury v Whyte is promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Boxing, who is promoting the show in conjunction with Bob Arum’s Top Rank with the deal negotiated by IMG.

Frank Warren said:
“I’m delighted to be working with Stan Event to deliver the biggest fight of the year to boxing fans in Australia. Tyson is now the leading star in World boxing and this is set to be a huge occasion in front of 94,000 fans, a record sporting crowd at Wembley Stadium in London.”

IMG VP Head of Australasia & Indonesia for Media Sam Sticher said:
“Tyson Fury is the biggest name in boxing right now and this promises to be another exciting fight for the unbeaten heavyweight champion in an all-British affair. As a new broadcaster, this is a big statement from Stan that they are very keen to provide the very best sporting action from across the globe for their viewers and we are delighted to have secured the deal with them.”

Fury v Whyte will also include a stellar supporting cast with six bouts to enjoy in the lead up to the main event. The undercard will be headlined by a return to the ring of British junior lightweight champion Anthony “The Apache” Cacace (19-1, 7 KOs), who is stepping up in weight class to take on Colombian native Jonatan Romero (34-1, 19 KOs) over ten rounds for the vacant WBO International title.

In a 12-round domestic duel where fireworks are guaranteed, the vacant WBC Silver featherweight title will be on the line when Tyson Fury comrade Isaac Lowe (23-1-3, 6 KOs) takes on undefeated Liverpool native Nick Ball (14-0, 7 KOs).

Young heavyweight star David Adeleye (8-0, 7 KOs) will clock up his ninth fight and his second eight-rounder as a professional against Chris Healey as he closes in on title contention. And the unbeaten Tommy Fury (7-0, 4 KOs), the brother of Tyson, will continue his light heavyweight journey over six rounds with a step-up fight against Polish veteran Daniel Bocianski (10-1, 2 KOs).

Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte on Sunday 24 April will be live and ad-free only on Stan Event, and can be purchased by Stan customers from next Thursday 9am AEST for $60. Ring walks for the main event are expected no earlier than 7am AEST.

It’s exactly the same price as other major boxing PPV’s. Watch past UFC, Boxing and WWE Events | MAIN EVENT

Really? That seems exorbitant - especially in NZ, with a weaker dollar where I’ve never seen one over 50.

No, I wouldn’t think so.

Former long-time host of SBS’s cycling coverage, Mike Tomalaris, will be part of Nine and Stan’s telecast of UCI Road World Championships in Wollongong next month.

Welcome meee!

This would be the first time the world feed graphics have been used in Australia, correct? With ESPN having their own.

IIRC Nine and SBS had also used the world feed graphics for their US Open telecast in the past (the difference being the world feed shows ball speed at km/h instead of mph as displayed courtside).
