It’s pole once again for Oscar Piastri in Qatar Qualifying.
Norris didn’t had any time to start his final lap (starts at P2) and Verstappen starts at P3. It will be a McLaren 1-2 at the front row.
The championship title race is starting to heat up. If Norris wins ahead of Piastri and Verstappen, he will become the world champion. Race start: 3:00am AEDT tomorrow.

Chaz Mostert has clinched Repco Supercars Championship.
To be honest, the race was over about 40 laps ago as Payne maintained his six-second lead throughout most of that portion.
Matt Payne took out the final race in Adelaide while Broc Feeney came 20th.

A well deserved early christmas present.
In addition to McLaughlin-Levrone winning female track athlete of the year and Duplantis winning male field athlete of the year, the winners were: Kenyan 800m runner Emmanuel Wanyonyi (men’s track), Australian high jumper Nicola Olyslagers (women’s field), Kenyan marathoner Sabastian Sawe (men’s out of stadium) and Spanish race walker María Pérez (women’s out of stadium).
Tasmania’s WNBL team starting next season has just released their new name and brand at 7pm tonight.
Not what I expected but not too bad. I think they were told they needed to have something different to the Jackjumpers name but they have clearly kept things very similar which I think will be very good for them.

What’s the link between Tasmania and jewels? Are there a lot of jewel mines in Tassie?
Now for a real sport…
Perth Thundersticks won the women’s Hockey One division, HC Melbourne won the men’s, and NSW Pride came in third in both and won the Hockey One Cup (combined men’s and women’s)
It looks like the Jewel is there as the “Jewel in the Crown” and to tie it with the Jack Jumpers they’ve based the crown on that of the Ant Queen in the nest. A bit of a journey to get there but it does make sense in the end. It looks like it’s been pretty well received though which is good.
Australia will host Jamaica in a three-match netball test series in February next year. Matches will be played in Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne.
