Sports That Don’t Have Or Need A Thread

I’d much rather pay a bit extra knowing the price upfront over the absolute steaming pile of hot garbage that was demand based pricing last year (advertised tickets for $485 each where we wanted to be seated were closer to $700 each on the day)

Prices are actually pretty reasonable for the Grand Prix when compared to races overseas, anything in the US is typically $1000+ for the cheapest ticket and some European rounds aren’t too far behind either.

I thought Donald hated Elon’s guts and vice versa.

Mind you, you could have a drag race using the Teslas, now that you mention it…

Bad signs for Canberra - don’t bring back the Cannons if AIS Arena can’t provide quality equipment.

I wonder how long those backboards are supposed to last, seems to be the same ones that the Cannons were using nearly 25 years ago.

OSCAR PIASTRI WINS THE F1 DUTCH GRAND PRIX

1.Oscar Piastri
2.Max Verstappen
3.Isack Hadjar
4.George Russell
5.Alex Albon
6.Oliver Bearman
7.Lance Stroll
8.Fernando Alonso
9.Yuki Tsunoda
10.Esteban Ocon

Piastri’s seventh race win of the season is a massive swing in the world title race, with the Melburnian now a whopping 34 points ahead of his teammate, a particularly handy buffer after a track that was expected to favour Norris.

So how long before Oscar becomes champion and piss off the Brits?

Piastri also achieved a rare “grand slam” in F1: taking pole position, having the fastest lap of the race, and leading every lap of the race to the chequered flag.

The Dutch Grand Prix could very well end up being the championship-defining race this season, especially with Lando Norris’ unfortunate DNF. Up until now, Lando has been one of the most consistent drivers on the grid, and with McLaren’s recent upgrades showing real promise, it felt like he was finally within striking distance of the top. That DNF, though, was a massive blow—not just for him individually, but for the team as a whole. Losing out on crucial points at this stage of the season could come back to haunt him if the title fight stays as close as it’s been.

As for Oscar Piastri, I want to believe he could step up and fill the gap, especially if McLaren continues to deliver a competitive car. He’s clearly talented and improving with every race, and there have been flashes of brilliance from him all season. But I’m trying to manage my expectations. It’s a lot to ask of a second-year driver to suddenly carry the weight of a title-contending team, especially when the pressure ramps up like this. He’s shown composure, no doubt, but consistency and experience matter more than ever during the back half of the season.

Still, if McLaren can stay in the mix and Oscar keeps his head down, who knows? This season has already thrown a few surprises our way. It’s definitely going to be an intense final stretch—every point counts from here on out.

The announcement was made at the launch of 2025 Bathurst 1000 in Sydney tonight, where the first-ever Toyota GR Supra Supercar was officially unveiled by Toyota and Walkinshaw Andretti United. Neil Crompton was given the honour of the first person to test driving the car. The Supra will make its Supercars debut next year, joining Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.

As one of the 35000 that finished, even if the time was sluggish, to be part of a major especially the first running when it has attained major status is something that can’t be taken away from you. Of course by the end with the legs trashed due to attacking the uphills in the first 15km a little too hard and blisters on both feet, I was just glad to make the 4PM flight to Brisbane in business class.
