Tend to dispute that, I reckon they’ve calculated based on everyone being in the village at the same time when in reality many of the sports aren’t even based in Paris itself and many of the athletes in certain sports won’t be in Paris for the entirety (road cyclists, football teams, surfers just 3 that fall into that category). It also assumes all those athletes will qualify which won’t be finalised for a while yet.

They will face San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, after the latter fought back from 17 points down at half time to defeat Detroit Lions 34-31. The Lions were hoping to appear in the Super Bowl for the first time since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.

and more fear to perspective families… community sport is already struggling up against kids not wanting to play sport with video games etc taking preference and already heaps of red tape for junior sporting clubs…
ehh not really. This was always going to happen. At the moment its only set out as guid lines so it’s up to the sporting bodies to come up with how they plan to take it on board. Imo anything to do with preventing the long-term effects of concussion is a good thing.

What, fear of very common life-altering injuries?

The greater fear for me is finding enough qualified people able to give their time (voluntarily or paid) to ensure protocols are followed through on game day. More and more clubs are having their teams play on the same day at several different venues (even within the sme precinct).
Except concussion is actually a serious issue and if there’s not mitigation towards it there will be less kids able to play because of the potential long-term injuries.

Despite growing evidence around the impacts of head trauma (especially from sports), the sports themselves have been slow (and inconsistent) in making changes to try and protect participants.
