About the only interest I have in the race is if any boats are still on the course on New Years Eve or New Years Day. Hasn’t been that way for a few years.
I’m in Hobart next weekend for the Cadbury Marathon, the lure of sponsors product upon completion was the big hook.

The way things were at the start I thought there would have been a lot more than just 5 still racing as of now.
There would definitely have been 4 still on the course, a 5th was basically in the Derwent with about 30 minutes to go in the year. Two of those are in the 2-handed category, which are manned by 2 people, which may explain a little why they’re still out there.

World Darts Championship had some thriller quarter final matches last night/this morning.
Favourites Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Scott Williams and Rob Cross all flexed their muscles and had amazing games, still though no 9 legs yet.

UPDATE…we still have one boat on the course as the race enters an 8th day. Sylph VI is still 31 Nautical Miles from the finish line and should cross some time close to midnight tonight Hobart time.

Sylph VI reached the finish time at Hobart at 8.26am local time today. Its elapsed time is 7 days, 19 hours, 26 minutes and 15 seconds.
Of the 103 entries, 85 yachts completed the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and 18 withdrew.

F1 team Alfa Romeo will be known as Stake F1 Team for the 2024 season.
They will be known as Kick F1 Team in countries where gambling advertising is banned, which will affect 8 races this upcoming season.
The XFL and USFL have merged to form a single spring football competition called the United Football League (UFL). Inaugural season of the merged competition will begin on the Easter long weekend on March 30 (March 31 in Australia)

Australia’s top athletes are furious at a rule that will kick them out of the Olympic Village after their events are done and dusted in Paris.
The divisive new ruling approved by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) last year means athletes will have to leave the Athletes’ Village 48 hours after their last event.
Australia’s swimmers are furious, especially since they traditionally cannot attend the Opening Ceremony > because they need to stay fresh for the opening night of competition.
The AOC said there wasn’t much they could do, because there were not enough beds in the village for the entire team.
AOC chief executive Matt Carroll said athletes would be allowed to return for the Closing Ceremony, but they would have to find their own accommodation in between and also buy their own tickets to watch fellow Aussies in action because there were no free tickets anymore.
“We only have 474 beds in the village but to look after the sports and so forth we need 567. So we need people to come and go.
