Woo
The disclaimer that “we’ve qualified as a nation, but it’s up to the AOC to actually officially select them (and/or the players shown) as Olympic participants” is an interesting addition, though one that makes a bit of sense.
Are Basketball and the AOC not getting on at the moment? Seems like an odd comment to make so publically
I get it’s always been the AOCs decision around which sports to participate in, but I don’t think they’ve decided against participating in many events that we’ve earnt qualification in
Probably just a requirement for licensing of motifs like the Olympic rings (which of course is controlled by the AOC locally) by Basketball Australia. Maybe without the rings, they may have not needed that.
“Rose Gold” - didn’t we win bronze?
Rose Gold was a tongue-in-cheek term used for the bronze medal coined by their coach at the time and subsequently the name of the Boomers movie.
It’s generally more to do with ratification of the athletes selected
Yep, you see similar “athletes not guaranteed to appear” taglines on Boomers ads.
From Nine’s 2024 upfronts press release this evening
I don’t think that’s the official logo of Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
That won’t be announced for a little while will it?
Looks to be ripped from Reddit where a user has come up with a couple of designs.
Yeah, I thought it was just a tad too early to be designing logos for something that’s still nine years away!
October this year
So it’s likely the graphic designer PR guy just looked up “Brisbane Olympics logo”:
Yep:
On another note, surely the Olympics qualifies as a sport that needs a thread?
Normally you’d have an interim “candidate city” logo for the bidding round, but given Brisbane was basically the only viable bid, that never really happened: the IOC web site for Brisbane '32 just has a word mark, the IOC and IPC logos, and the Queensland Tourism logo.
2023 Basketball World Cup: semi final results: Serbia beat Canada, while Germany beat USA.
The Grand Final is on Sunday night. Serbia will play Germany, a European affair, while neighbouring USA and Canada will play each other in the third place playoff on Sunday arvo.
I noticed it. It is just a mock logo and not an official logo
