Southern Cross Austereo (Company)

I wouldn’t do that @ElCapitanCranky as you need to have some money to post, we all enjoy your entertaining and spot on posts.

I will happily take everyone’s money on this forum.

In any case, the last post people would tend to argue with you with.

They won’t even get 15 million adults googling “how do you spell Listener?”

In addition to the lofty usage plans, Blackley revealed the platform will launch 35 new music-based radio stations, taking the total to 50, before the end of 2021.

If they can increase the bitrate on these stations from 32kbps to at least 128kbps then I’m on board. If not then I’m not even remotely interested. It’s bad enough their HIT and Triple M stations resort to 32kbps.

I am sure they will meet the target, in the same way the 2Day Breakfast show will also meet its targets.

They’d be doing well to get 15.

Grant and SCA are getting a hammering on Radio Today’s website comments. You often learn more from the comments than the press release articles.

The app doesn’t even have Siri support. Just tried this this morning. Even RadioApp works with Siri well.

We know SCA doesn’t know what they’re doing with radio. This is clear they have no idea about on demand audio either.

Clean out the entire senior programming level. Is there one quality programmer left at SCA?

Anyone see that photo of Grant Tothill when appointed GM of digital audio?

Looks like the Keith Richards of SCA.

Retire the lot of them, go into more debt, give them golden handshakes, whatever it takes; work on progressively replacing the lot before the business fails further.

I wonder how much of the problem now is due to a downward spiral, including of cost-cutting; people there being overworked, making mistakes, etc., and not being able to properly plan for the future.

Who is the target audience for this app? What’s the unique selling point for the customer, as opposed to simply using Apple, Google or Spotify podcasts? Why would anyone bother to download a new app and handover a heap of personal info to get the same thing they can get from an app already on their phone?

Steve Price? Wait, that’s on DAB+ too.

Letting go of Kyle and Jackie O another of those.

They’ve had 20yrs of bad decisions, starting with poorly handling Nova’s market entry.

27 years ago, Austereo’s most stupid decision was letting go of Paul Thompson.
