Songs lost to radio

Cliff has a few from the 80s that don’t get played much anymore, such as ‘Baby You’re Dynamite’, ‘The Only Way Out’ and ‘Some People’. Even ‘Wired For Sound’ doesn’t get much airplay.

All of these can be heard occasionally on my show.

There’s also “Dreaming” and “She’s So Beautiful”, the latter which should be a Smooth FM staple.

And who can forget “Living Doll” with The Young Ones.

Living Doll gets a run on Martin’s Morning Mix (Braidwood FM) every now and again, but it’s not really my cup of tea believe it or not. ‘Dreaming’ is another great one.

Yes, that surprises me re “Living Doll”. Did you feel ripped off by the 12 inch version having 5 inches of nothing in the middle?

Great song!

Another forgotten song from that era (early 00s) I’ve heard on a TV ad lately (and somewhere else) is

Deeper Water - Deadstar

Another one - this time on C91.3 FM. Played just after 8:50pm:

This was the sixth track on So Fresh: the Hits of Autumn 2002 (immediately following Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me”, which was released some 6-9 months prior).

C91.3 do play some great songs that havent been heard in a while…and new Aussie music. A few weeks ago, they played Eskimo Joe’s new song “Miracle Cure” - doubt that would’ve been heard elsewhere (I could be wrong). I feel C91.3 is quite underrated.

I like that C91.3’s format is a wide range of music dating back to as far back as the 70s (as far as I know).

One minute you could be hearing a song from the 80s, the next a song from this year. I also like that before the hourly news breaks they preview three songs that they will play in the next hour.

Also, C91.3 is perhaps the most local sounding of the commercial FM stations in the Sydney metropolitan area, being live & local from 5:30am to 8pm on weekdays.

There’s a song I haven’t heard nor thought about in a long time. I remember Fox FM flogging this one when it was new, but now it’s pretty much never heard.

Well the ‘C’ is for Campbelltown after all

It could be C for Crap, but no one knows it!?

But seriously, much more meaningful than C for Country at CFM Toowoomba ever was!

While shopping at Westfield Liverpool this afternoon, I heard “Release Me” by Agnes over the speakers.

A good song, but not a great one.

I like it (always have, still will). He has a lot of great songs lost to radio.

Very catchy, lots of good memories come back from my childhood lol. Even though it’s a break up song. It was always on the radio when I was very young.

When I first heard it as a kid I took it literally…what on earth happened that caused him to not talk anymore, he’s singing, right?

Toni Childs- Stop Your Fussin came to mind yesterday as a song lost to radio. I’d hear it everywhere in the early 90s but you don’t hear it now. Same with ‘I’ve Got To Go Now’, though its length might explain that.
