When it had its own music programming. A foreign concept to them now sadly.
I wish this song was played more:
I remember hearing it on 4IP IN late 1989 ,the period when they attempted a comeback with original call sign ,that was doomed to start with competing with the ratings juggernaut that was FM 104 ,and the debut of B105 not long after.
I donât recall hearing Girl Overboard songs on the 2 FM stations back then, they had some great tunes
I seem to remember hearing The Love We Make and I Canât Believe a lot on FM in Brisbane in the very early 90s. I assume it might have been B105 but could have also been QFM.
Maybe QFM did play them ,I used to listen to them sometimes in those days.
Yeah I actually listened to them a lot in the early 90s
I only heard them once with their elongated ID
âSouth East Queenslandâs best mix of the 70s, 80s and 90s⌠MIX 106.9 QFMâ.
It was quite a mouthful.
Sometimes they included Music For My Generation as well.
Thorough application of extracting all value from consultants.
It fits the modern/upbeat AC format that QFM had in its early years. Pity it was allocated 106.9 and suffered from interference being surrounded by Brisbane stations without being sited at Mt Coot-tha.
Despite extensive localism, crossover of format and AM stereo, QFM wouldâve carved off quite some revenue from Toowoomba stations 4GR and 4AK.
I hope they werenât being charged per word!
âPassionâ by The Flirts and âBabe Weâre Gonna Love Tonightâ by Lime were two 80s American dance hits that never made it to Australia.
The clubs would have played these songs, back in the 80s when I used to frequent Central Station Records in Melbourne I saw them both on 12" singles for sale. They would have also been played on the specialist dance music shows on 3RRR and 3PBS back then.
Not quite the right thread but while shopping at Woolworths in Bermagui this morning, just before 8:00am I heard âWhen I Lost Youâ by Sarah Whatmore. Peaked at #49 on the ARIA Charts in early 2003.
A real yawn of a song yet seemed to test well for hot AC stations at the time.
I remember 2DAY FM and (what was then known as) Mix 106.5 played it quite often (also even heard it on the latter station as late as 2008), while it was also featured on Video Hits in early 2003.
Fun fact: Whatmore auditioned for Pop Idol in the UK, but didnât make it to the final 12 in the season eventually won by Will Young (that season also spawned the runner-up, Gareth Gates, whose cover of âUnchained Melodyâ charted well in Australia).
11:25am on C91.3FM (Sydney): âThe Remedyâ by Jason Mraz
Now thereâs a song that I hadnât heard on radio in ages!
Mraz is better known for his song âIâm Yoursâ, also released in the noughties.
The Remedy is a far better song too, but youâre right, I havenât heard that on radio in years either.

I wonât worry my life away if I donât hear it again, but itâs nevertheless one of the few good pop songs from 2003.

A year light on for good music if thatâs the case.
All of his singles are schmaltzy, test well for radio play designed music.
