I have heard ‘Skinny Girls’ on 2CA occasionally but nowhere else. A song I’d expect on Inphase/VSV for sure.
At 7:10am EST this morning, the HIT network found time in between playing Tone Deaf and I to insert this song that I jokingly suggested to a work colleague hadn’t been heard since the Hottest 100 of 1997
you means tones and i
I agree with stmookey on that one. For the life of me I can’t work out why that song is so popular.
No I don’t, just being honest. But they’re for another thread.
“Running Up That Hill” and “Babooshka” by Kate Bush are rarely (if ever) heard on Australian radio these days.
Quite a pity - and rather surprising, as they were both top 10 hits. “Wuthering Heights” is the only song by Kate that receives semi-frequent airplay.
I hear “Running Up That Hill” on ARN’s 80s DAB station pretty regularly.
Just thinking the Placebo version of Running Up That Hill would be a good fit for MMM Soft Rock, but can’t say I’ve heard it on there.
Patches by Clarence Carter on 2SM (in mono on DAB)
Would’ve been funnier if it was Strokin’ by Clarence Carter. ![]()
Edge FM in Wangaratta (pre-ACE ownership) used to play Strokin’ on their Flashback Fridays. One of their very out-there picks you wouldn’t hear nowadays
I think I have heard on SWR that song (Strokin) on the awesome 80s.
That was one day of the week I used to love listening to Edge FM.
Was certainly never boring!
I have to correct myself - it was actually in their regular playlist ![]()
Has anyone heard of a little band called “The Sharp” and “Caligula”? None of their songs were played on the radio anymore…
What about the Flames of Paradise by Elton John / Jennifer Rush played on Inphase on SWR? A lost classic from the 80s, I did not hear since it was released in the mid to late 80s

This song is not a lost song .97.3 FM Brisbane have flogged it to death over the years so I’m sick of hearing it
Breeze NZ played Cher’s “Just Like Jesse James” (the more up tempo Believe tour version) this afternoon. I don’t like the slower original release single but it was good to hear that version again after so long.
WS FM use to love this one.
