I see they’ve already dropped the controversial “Government Funded Media” tags as well

Ohhhhhh. Yes this.

Frankly, the blue tick system was a bit broken before Musk took over - the labels/tags are a better way of verifying people of note.

Musk’s approach is just chaotic though

But that also chopped off those actually affiliated with the government, like the pro-China ones:

So we’re going from one extreme to another. Yay.

More row between NPR and Musk: The latter threatened to reassign the @npr handle to someone else.

Dr Wanning Sun, from the University of Technology Sydney, and Dr Haiqing Yu, from RMIT, on Thursday made a late submission to the inquiry in which they argued banning the Chinese social media app would cause more harm than good.

WeChat, they say, is essential for communication between Chinese Australians and their families, friends, and business partners in China given other social media apps including WhatsApp and Facebook are banned. The platform was even used, in some cases, to farewell dying relatives while China’s borders were closed during the pandemic.

Too bad then. Find some other way of communicating.

To fix a text, press and hold the sent message and pick “edit.” After the changes, it will then display “edited,” but those receiving the message won’t be able to see the edit history, WhatsApp says.

How to make a small fortune. Buy a big one and smash it to pieces.

Just something I’ve noticed. Auskar, previously from ABC, has the lowest engagement I’ve ever seen on Twitter. 11,000 followers and not one like. Curious.

Do people actually buy followers?

Protected account and Musk’s personal algorithms at play. There’s plenty of tweets from people I follow I no longer see until I’ll actively go to their profile looking for them. Yet the “for you” default tab seems to be a carefully curated selection of far right and far left nonsense, I don’t engage but it’s there, day after day like taking a gondola ride down a sewer.
