Sky News

Despite all the criticism recently, Paul Murray’s panel tonight is full of right wing extremists. There’s not one token lefty in sight.

Just a normal program then.

:joy:
To be fair they normally have a token lefty on there so they can berate them.

Bronwyn Bishop is on there tonight calling anyone remotely left wing a socialist criminal. They have that deranged senator Fraser Anning. They have climate change denier michale Kroger. And ofc the usual bully that is Paul Murray. He is the biggest hypocrite. He rails against the left for shutting down free speech yet he yells and carries on at anyone who doesn’t adopt his views.

Sounds like car crash TV at its best.

Sky News has been buying advertising time on the screens on Melbourne train stations. That is what was being showing - ads. It wasn’t a news service, as such. Reading part of the transcript of David Speers interview with the Victorian minister it was as if a dictator had banned a media outlet from operating. Total overreaction from Sky News to the government simply no longer accepting Sky’s advertising.

The truth:

Media commentators have mentioned that Blair Cottrell has previously been interviewed on the ABC. ABC responds:

He has also appeared on 3AW. I don’t see the problem as long as he is being challenged on his radical views and the moderator has the finger poised over the dump button should he say something that contravenes the broadcasting act.

MSNBC revealed on their breakfast program a couple of days ago that they went into a seven second delay when they knew a particular guest would probably say something beyond what was acceptable. He did, so the audio was muted. Sky News could easily do the same.

I agree. I’m all for dickheads having their racist, bigoted, misogynistic, backward whatever views dissected by a quality, investigative journalist who can do it properly.

But I don’t think he was on Sky and certainly wasn’t when on Seven News a few weeks ago.

But the way the Sky babies are crying you’d think they were being shut down. It’s just been switched off some TV monitors on the train platforms at 3 metro train stations.

For some context there are over 200 train stations in the Melbourne metropolitan train network.

The Victorian government is not stopping people watching Sky News in their homes or on their mobiles etc. And Sky News is about to go free-to-air on WIN and Sky Business in a joint venture channel with Nine. Hardly being censored or shut down.

Back in 2016 some News Corp websites allegedly rejected advertising from an anti-muslim group. Was this restricting free speech?

it’s only restricting free speech when it’s restricting News Corp.

Yes, we should listen to Campbell Newman because he did a fantastic job as Queensland premier…oh wait.

Surely most people agree that the Melbourne metropolitan train network should be allowed to disapprove of any content or advertising they feel isn’t in line with community standards?

For goodness sakes this thread is becoming a broken record.

How so?

For the last 2 days all we’ve heard from Sky is whinging about how the Victorian transport minister has chosen not to allow Sky News to be shown on train station platform screens at 3 (out of 200) stations, claiming censorship and fascism

here was another one yesterday getting in for his chop

Any network would do the same.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Simple.
