Sky News

The problem with ANC is you can’t follow it with the word “News” as it’s already in the “N”.

Like others, I support just going with Fox News Australia brand because that’s what it is. But I’m assuming NewsCorp still wants to brainwash its audience as a fair and balanced platform to gullible views.

In that case the brand is meaningless then.
And also suspect they will want the word NEWS in there

The problem is twofold: ANC relies heavily on overseas traffic to drive YouTube traffic, and having a second Fox News brand, even tagged with Australia, is too confusing. Secondly, the Fox News brand is very established internationally. And as much as Sky News is modelled off it, I don’t think they match these expectations at a brand and editorial level.

Perhaps there’s some other IP in their portfolio to exploit, or they need to create a new brand in the vein of Newsmax or Newsnation thats upfront and powerful.

Could just drop Sky from the name and go News Australia. Unless someone has already claimed it.

Could work, and they could tie it in with news.com.au.

News Channel Australia? Or is that too generic? Or like news.com.au Live or something?

NewsOz channel?

Newz.

I think it would be best to start transitioning now and getting the audience use to it over an extended time.

Maybe introduce a new logo first with graphics that can be carried over with name change at a later date.

Introduce it in stages.

Australian News Channel makes sense. I wish they’d have a nightly bulletin though. Even half an hour. ANC Tonight or something like that. Half an hour with reports on the day’s news from all their great journos.

Sky News AU and Sky News UK have managed to co-exist for 20 years.

There are about 15 local CNN networks, all modelled to work locally.

I can’t see an issue with an Australian Fox News

There is zero chance Fox News would allow for another “Fox News” branded product to be competing with them directly on Youtube.

They’re the same parent company. Whynot?

Is that your opinion or you have insider knowledge?

And why not, Sky UK and Sky AU have co-existed for 20 years. There are 15 localised CNNs competing on YouTube

I don’t think Fox News AU YouTube would exactly steal revenue from US Fox News YouTube.

Sky UK and Sky AU signed the name licensing deal well before distribution on Youtube became a critical factor in the success of the business, and now Sky UK have made it clear they want the relationship to end precisely because of the rise of Sky AU on Youtube.

Fox News and Sky News AU are singing from the same hymn book in terms of…content and views though, whereas Sky AU and UK no longer are.

Having said that, an AU News/GB News tie-up for programming, guests and the like I reckon makes sense.

Have they? Where was that statement?

So the synergy makes sense.

CEO Paul Whittaker (pictured) will reportedly advise staff of a new name in coming months, tipped not to be Fox News Australia.
https://tvtonight.com.au/2025/08/sky-news-facing-name-change.html

As noted in the TV Tonight article about the name change, unlikely to be Fox News Australia.

Sure they have the same ultimate owner, but they are also in direct competition against each other on YouTube for clicks.

What possible advantage is there for Fox News to allow another organisation they are competing against to use their IP and create brand confusion???

Yes there are similarities in style, but ultimately they are seperate businesses with seperate editorial policies and seperate goals online.
