I can’t imagine anyone turning away because it gets renamed Fox News AU - in fact it’s a strong brand proposition
Newsmax might be available? lol
Why wouldn’t they just carry Fox overnight?
I don’t think it would play well, particularly in regional Australia. The right wingers that watch Sky news would still cringe at the thought of being associated with Fox News. They like to live in denial of what they really are. And most of the right wing loons that watch Sky news are still nowhere near as crazy as the Maga nuts who love Fox.
I think they’d more likely just repeat shows overnight, like GB News does.
Hmm. GB News. AU News?
That’s why you’d use the acronym. Besides, it wouldn’t matter what they call it if the hosts and tone remain the same for that Fox News-consuming cohort to eat up.
I’m in two minds about this. On one hand I think rebranding to Fox News Australia would make sense - it’s basically that in all but name already. In the past I would have also said rebranding to Fox News makes sense as it aligns with Foxtel, but obviously News Corp no longer owns Foxtel.
On the other hand, Sky Australia has quite a big following online in the States, so maybe News Corp would like to keep that and the Fox brand separate. I don’t know, I really think it could go either way. If they do go with ANC I’d imagine they’ll align it more with The Australian.
But we r not America ..do we have to have everything Americanized ?
Telling someone to watch another news channel because doesn’t suit your personal beliefs is just at best short sited.
That was an absolute misinterpretation.
He only said that Sky and ABC don’t generally have the capacity to break news overnight using their own resources. An update on on-screen graphics is usually the best they can manage until dawn. Otherwise it’s a reliance on their existing partnerships with global broadcasters.
It was never about beliefs, viewpoints or biases. It is about when the news calls for it, whether they would be up to the task in an inconvenient timeslot. Sure seems like it’s “no” more often than not.
If it were that big a story they’d surely call people in anyway, get the breakfast teams to start a couple of hours early.
Like the spelling of Americanised? ![]()
True Blue News
Green and Gold News
Eureka News
CoalTV (or maybe that would be FissionTV?)
No
Yeah I’m staggered they don’t go with the Fox brand. The Australian News or whatever linked to the paper is the only other option that makes sense.
I guess the easier and more accurate version would be One Nation News…
Putting any kind of A in there for Australia doesn’t make sense for a network churning out content for an international Audience
But a) the viewers don’t know that when they watch the slop on YouTube, and b) they may think A stands for America.
ANC doesn’t make it obvious.
