Sky News

I think the reports I’ve read basically say Fox News was being considered as a brand for the AU network but not likely to move forward.

That said I remain unconvinced at the alternatives: News Australia, ANC - seem largely generic and meaningless in a digital global news world.

Will be very interesting to see what they come up with.

having to delete 25 years of YouTube content as if all has the Sky News bug and branding on it is a absolutely massive dilemma

Can’t see a way around that. Wonder if their contract has an allowance for that, their lawyers would be looking for a way.

It can’t really be removed or altered, so either they delete it or they carve out a legal path to keep it up.

And here I was thinking who would even think about producing this tripe short of being recruited by Fox News.

No surprises that this is going to be nothing but an IPA Wankfest.

TLDR: Colonialism = Good, Stolen Generation = Good, Climate Change = Good thing

Surely they would just keep it up? It’s old content produced when they did have the rights to the Sky News name. I can’t see an issue as long as they don’t use that brand for future content (which obviously they won’t).

Kinda like how the YT channel transitioned from Optus Sport to Stan Sport Football.

It’ll be fine.

SMH raised it as an issue. Depends what the contract is I guess.

The Optus/Stan example isn’t directly comparable to News Corp’s current situation. In that case, Nine Entertainment acquired Optus Sport outright from Optus, gaining access to its existing social media footprint and simply relaunching everything under the Stan Sport brand.

By contrast, News Corp Australia (via Australian News Channel) already owns Sky News Australia’s social platforms and digital footprint. All archival content would remain on those channels post-rebrand, since it was produced by and for ANC. The business itself will remain under ANC ownership; only the on-air name and branding will change.

Special breakout from the UK simulcast announced.

Update

Sky News employs a 22 year old kid to do a show, what were they expecting.

I’m surprised it was live in the first place. Outsiders has aired on delay (about two minutes if memory serves) for years so that this exact situation with unacceptable interviewee comments can be avoided.

22 years old? Gawd she needs to get a life.

I think everything on Sky After Dark needs a broadcast delay. Like 10 minutes.

remember sky holds the trademark on the phrase “Lefties losing it” - tells you all you need to know

They actually do. I can’t believe that.

Calum Jaspan’s weekly column in The Age / SMH today has two items on Sky News: Andrew Bolt has been absent from his show since having heart surgery three weeks ago (with James MacPherson filling in in the interim), and that there have been cash rewards for staff helping fill jobs that have sat vacant on LinkedIn and Seek website for months.

On Monday morning, a Sky News spokesperson confirmed to this masthead that a decision has been made to discontinue the show, with immediate effect.
While Freya Fires Up will no longer air, the 22-year-old will continue as a co-host of The Late Debate, Sky said.

“We have undertaken a thorough internal review, implemented its recommendations, and taken appropriate action with everyone involved in this incident,” the spokesperson said.
“We took immediate action during the live broadcast to cut off the guest, our host promptly apologised, and we ensured the content was not published or republished to any of our digital platforms.”

The decision comes after the show went to air without any senior editors or managers green-lighting its list of guests for the show on Sunday September 21.

The show did not air last night - a repeat of Sunday Agenda was shown in it’s place
