This has to be the latest start to Wimbledon in many years. Usually the tournament begins on the last Monday in June.
I wonder why day 6 coverage starts on 7mate not 7TWO in Melbourne (AFL is on main channel)?

Some changes to original

###Wimbledon

From Monday 3 July

Nick Kyrgios, Daria Gavrilova, Ashleigh Barty and Bernard Tomic are set to fly the Aussie flag next week at Wimbledon as fans enjoy LIVE and FREE coverage of The Championships on Seven.

Kyrgios and Gavrilova have both been named as 20th seed, making them Australia’s top chances in the men’s and women’s draw respectively. Jordan Thompson and Thanasi Kokkinakis also proved they are in form with some stunning victories at London’s Queens Club. Thompson defeated reigning Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray while Kokkinakis got the better of last year’s Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic.

Seven’s broadcast will be hosted by Todd Woodbridge with expert commentary from three-time Wimbledon champion John Newcombe, along with Rennae Stubbs, Sam Smith and Geoff Masters.

In addition, there will be commentary from a string of the biggest names in tennis via the host broadcaster BBC. Among them are John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin and Tim Henman.

Where it says “10:30pm Channel 7” in Melbourne & “10pm Channel 7” in Adelaide for Fridays, I don’t think that’s correct?

Friday Night Football always airs until 11:30pm [AEST] or so!

Also, is this a mistake?

The Friday and Saturday times match the schedule for those days

Adel 8.00pm on 7TWO, 9.45pm on 7TWO
The second 7TWO should be Channel 7

What it means is that AFL telecast on Fridays will finish early after the team song, then the tennis begins. Also applies to Saturday nights.

I suppose within the broadcast rights, the AFL are happy for Seven to do whatever (although Seven probably advise the AFL regardless).

So long as the final siren has sounded.

almost certainly. 7 and AFL will have co-ordinated while (if it’s the same as other sports I’ve worked across) there’s a high likelihood that they would have had a production meeting involving the team media managers and 7 production officials the day prior/day of broadcast telling them what they will/won’t need.

Just saw a new promo during Seven’s AFL for Wimbledon, going through world historical milestones and referring to the tournament remaining the same.

Was good.
