So does Seven have exclusive rights to the games where Australian’s are playing?

They have the pick of two matches to show exclusively on 7.

And IIRC Fox gets a pick too. They’ve obviously picked the Nadal v Millman match which you won’t be seeing on 7.

As far as I know, Seven picks what they think will be the best two matches of the day and are free to show any of the other matches from centre court. Like how they are showing Kvitova now.

Same with ESPN here in America.

During the second week, they use two channels to show matches from two courts.

That’s what Fox Sports are doing. They have two channels showing matches from different courts + two more courts that you can watch via streaming.

Pretty sure after Seven selects their two matches, Fox gets to then pick three matches that will be exclusive to them

I really don’t know why they just use something like ‘Wimbledon, live across the Seven Network’ - classier, and technically correct.

Whats with all these ‘contractual reasons’ as to why they cant show the good matches?

As explained earlier, Seven’s & Fox’s coverage operates on a pick system - Seven picks two matches which they’ll have exclusive rights over before Fox picks three matches which they’ll be able to air exclusively.

This arrangement lasts until the SFs and finals since Seven has the rights to those matches

As wasnt explained earlier  Is why? Is this the first year this is the case? I dont remember it being like this previously. Can 7 not afford the rights on their own? Time to go back to 9?

It was explained precisely eight posts above yours.

Always has been the case, and remember how bad nine’s coverage was, started at 10.30 or even later, being shafted for one day internationals. Seven do a good job, give primetime coverage and compliments the Foxtel coverage well.
