AFL is Back !
If thereās no international travel at the end of the year and into 2021, there will be no international cricket or Aus Open tennis.
Big Bash might become a hit again over summer if itās one of the few sports left to watch on tvā¦
At the moment 2022 is probably the earliest for international travel.
I wouldnāt worry too much. India seems keen enough (currently) to travel, if they can quarantine for a fortnight. Australia and NZ already in discussions about international cricket this summer, with England (provided they can quarantine) also a possibility.
Tennis players might be able to do the same by January. We donāt know what procedures might be in place.
T20 WC will be moved to back end of the summer.
India will come to Australia to play (might be socially distanced in stadiums)
BBL will be domestic players only
AO wonāt go aheadā¦ will be replaced by an All Australian player competition to please Channel Nine
All of these however are just my opinions.
I doubt that would please anyone, really, apart from it being a novelty event.
You really should have started with the last line.
What about the āinternationalā players that live here?
I really wonder whether Governments (not just ours) will allow international travel for sport (outside of any travel bubble that may be formed) especially if international travel for other occupations isnt allowed.
Itās true. But I also donāt think we would be in the position to resume NRL/AFL so quickly.
Its hard to tell whether its too early to resume professional sport or not
NZ side maybe?
Currently you need ministerial or delegate approval for an Australian to leave the country and for a non-Australian to get in, I understand, and getting that approval is extremely difficult. Thatās what the rules should be for everyone, and I donāt think there should be an exemption for cricket players.
The Horse Racing is a noticeable blocky mess on 7HD today.
Surely 7HD would get allocated more bandwidth than Racing.com?
It does, the detail is there, but when those horses are outā¦
In Brisbane 7HD has 3.25Mbps. For some reason 7Flix is at 4.16 and 7Mate HD 3.44
Totally, it should be difficult to get it. The country has to be protected.
Letās look say 5 months down the track though and if it hasnāt had a second wave, I can see a Trans-tasman bubble formed. But then potentially you could open to other countries provided those individuals are financially willing to pay to be quarantined for a two week period, which would allow sports teams back in but potentially also entertainers (musicians to tour, people to film movies etc) once mass restriction numbers are lifted, even if not to maximum levels.
A lot of people also wonāt apply because the 2 weeks quarantine will make things financially and time prohibitive.
According to The Australian, Victorian racing authorities are on the verge of extending their broadcast deals with Seven for the spring racing carnival, rejecting a bid from 10. The contracts cover the Turnbull Stakes Day, Caulfield Guineas, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate.
A larger financial bid. Quite bizarre they would take less money.
