Awesome Seven going for NRL. They will be great at NRL coverage. I’d have Hamish McLachlan, Mel McLaughlin as hosts, James Brayshaw as head commentator. Yes they have enough money. They’ll share will Foxtel with three afternoon games and no streaming to save their money. Electrifying coverage!

If you didn’t realise…it’s a pisstake

Completely agree. I don think the people working on the ground level for Seven would be happy. Terrible idea in this current environment.

Spend money to make money? I dunno…

They’ve tried doing that with the cricket, and look how well that worked for them.

They need to pull back on those sports rights and save some money to build their primetime instead of getting every sport possible. Their primetime is far more important than just sports.

A star-studded field will clash in one of Australia’s most prestigious weight-for-age sprint races, the All Aged Stakes, this Saturday, when race fans can enjoy all the action of the Autumn Carnival’s final day of Group 1 racing LIVE and FREE on Seven.

Don’t understand why the portions of Racing.com’s coverage which aren’t being shown on the main channel are being simulcasted on 7Two. Surely it would make more sense from the POV of promoting the channel to direct viewers to Racing.com (especially when the Seven simulcast ends)?

Maybe because there are a handful of areas where racing.com is not available free-to-air?

Might be a reason for Racing.com to agree to it, but that would not be a scheduling concern for Seven. Might be just trying to up the live sports content on their network instead of lifestyle repeats?

Wonder whether this means the rumoured Sky Thoroughbred Central simulcast on one of 10’s channels will now not go ahead?

The new deal with Racing NSW only covers for Saturday race meetings at Randwick and Rosehill for the next six weeks, and doesn’t include any midweek races at the two courses, nor races at Warwick Farm or Canterbury. This is where Sky Thoroughbred Central can fill in the gap.

I wouldnt be surprised if they go back to 7

Ten needs more horse racing as 4 days at Melbourne Cup just doesn’t cut it.

On that note, I have come across this article in the The Australian.

Tabcorp is understood to have tried to broker a deal with Ten before settling a contract with Seven on Thursday, which will see the next six Sydney meets incorporated into Seven’s Saturday telecast and the next four from Brisbane.

Bruce McAvaney is in his hometown of Adelaide today rather than the study of his Sydney home.

That’s rather detailed, Johnson

Didn’t he only temporarily move to Sydney for the Olympics Coverage?

Yes that is correct, while he sold his current home in Glenelg and is moving to a penthouse in Glenelg South, which is still under construction. To be completed, almost days after the Olympics… well if it wasn’t for Covid.

Elite field chases Goodwood glory

Saturday LIVE & FREE – 11.30am AEST on 7, 7TWO and 7plus

The Adelaide Autumn Carnival will finish with a bang when a star-studded field does battle in The Goodwood at Morphettville on Saturday, when race fans will also enjoy all the action at Flemington and Rosehill Gardens LIVE and FREE on Seven.

Santa Ana Lane is bidding to become just the second horse ever to win two Goodwoods, after Musket Belle enjoyed back-to-back triumphs way back in 1911-12.

But the Anthony Freedman-trained gelding will have to be at his absolute best to repeat his 2018 victory in the Group 1 1200m feature, where the main contenders include hometown hope and favourite Gytrash, Stradbroke Handicap winner Trekking, multiple Group 1 victor Sunlight, and Patrick Payne-trained gelding The Inevitable.

Australia’s pre-eminent broadcaster Bruce McAvaney will lead Seven’s coverage on Saturday alongside Hamish McLachlan, Henry Dwyer and Katelyn Mallyon.

Seven will also bring viewers all the highlights from the National Hall of Fame Race Day at Flemington, where the winner of the Andrew Ramsden Stakes (Listed, 2800m) earns one of racing’s greatest prizes – direct entry to the 2020 Melbourne Cup.

And Rosehill will host the second day of the transferred Scone Carnival, including feature races the Dark Jewel Classic (Group 3, 1400m), Luskin Star Stakes (Listed, 1300m) and Ortensia Stakes (Listed, 1100m).
