Seven Sport

Actually one of the better looking sport promos they’ve done for a while, not bad.

Seven haven’t got the world swimming championships and no network is interested given the price. It would’ve aired during prime time.

Maybe 10 should given the finals are in prime time

There’s probably also the fact that general interest in the Australian swimming team (outside of the Olympics & Commonwealth Games) has declined since their 1990s/2000s heyday when events like the FINA World Championships rated well for Nine during an era when superstars like Thorpe, O’Neil and Hackett among others were representing Australian swimming on the world stage?

Manchester United kicks off pre-season tour against Perth Glory

LIVE on 7TWO, 7mate and 7plus

Sports fans will witness football royalty in action when Manchester United takes on A-League powerhouse Perth Glory at Optus Stadium on Saturday night live and free on Seven.

The Red Devils arrived in Perth on Monday for their official pre-season tour, bringing a full-strength squad that includes international superstars Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, David De Gea, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, and new signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Glory stars Ivan Franjic, Tomislav Mrcela, Chris Ikonomidis and new signing Bruno Fornaroli will be desperate to claim the scalp of the English Premier League’s most iconic club, while Saturday night’s game is also their first chance for redemption since May’s heartbreaking A-League Grand Final loss.

Next Wednesday, United concludes its 10-day Perth visit with a clash against long-time rival Leeds United, also live and free on Seven.

Mel McLaughlin and Mark Readings will host Seven’s coverage from Optus Stadium, while the commentary team includes former Socceroo Stan Lazaridis, David Basheer and David Davutovic.

Surprising they didn’t get the rights to show WSW vs Leeds next Saturday.

Inserting Mel McLaughlin is clearly for the East Coast audience.

Isn’t she a soccer nut? Probably more to do with it than an easy coast audience.

Yes absolutely, that’d certainly why she’s there over other Seven Sport identities, but I was getting at the decision being it’s a Perth event, and with Mark already there and all

who does have the rights?

Please stop posting shit. They don’t have the rights and would have had no reason to even consider a presenting team.

Does anyone remember who was part of the Seven Soccer team when Liverpool played Victory & Sydney FC as well as the A-League All-Stars?

I believe Robbie Thomson was the commentator for Man Utd all stars game.

I think that Jim Wilson was the host.

Sandy Roberts?

No. He wasn’t involved

Jim Wilson hosted, Robbie Thomson and Michael Bridges commentated with Michael Zappone pitchside. In Melbourne Gian Rooney and John Aloisi were involved. In Sydney it was Joh Griggs and Jason Culina
