Kim Clijsters is now commentating at the Oz Open for Channel 7.I wonder if she’s run in to her ‘ex’ Lleyton Hewitt, who is also commentating.

This must be an Australian tennis first? For tonight’s match between Raonic and Monfils, McAvaney, Hewitt and Courier are commentating for TV, while Zempilas and Leconte are calling the match for 7tennis app (simply because a French player is playing).

Already mentioned.

From what was said earlier in the thread the app used the world feed.

Have Seven been running scared of the cricket this time. As a Brit fan most interested in the evening sessions (8am our time) it’s been noticeable this year (and not just with the benefit of hindsight) that most the big matches have been scheduled last during the daytime session at 4pm your time rather than in primetime. This isn’t just one or two - it’s been pretty much everyday. Initially it seemed to be about having the Aussies on in primetime which is understandable, but even beyond that obvious notable clashes haven’t made it to the evening.

Has Seven used any world feed commentators on their 7/7TWO broadcast? In prior years, they featured occasionally throughout the early rounds. Now it seems they’ve been rubbed out completely

Also, I haven’t heard any mention of HbbTV coverage?

Does anyone have the video or seen on YouTube, of Seven’s “Broadcasting the Australian Open since 1970 & we’re proud of it” ident?

With the music from the classic western “The Good, the bad & the uguly”?

Aired frequebtly during 2013, 2014 and on the finals nights in 2015?

Could someone record and upload it, if it airs on Saturday/Sunday?

According to the advanced TV guides, 7 and 7mate will be airing Super Bowl 50 Carolina Panthers@Denver Broncos from Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA from 10AM AEDT.

Wonder why. Possibly trying to build up interest as the numbers watching on 7Mate this year have been disappointing especially considering the number of News Ltd stories about a certain Australian participant.

To maximise ratings. Airing it on two channels is a bold move. Last year the match was only aired on 7.

Will be nice to watch the Super Bowl in HD again too. Given the recent consumer focus on HD with 9HD, I reckon fans (myself included) would be infuriated if you’d watched the whole season in HD but the grand final was only in SD like it was last year.

Just realise Seven’s studio at the Australian Open is open in the background, unlike the past few years when there was a large piece of glass at the spot. When Hamish McLachlan and Rennae Stubbs chat to newly crowned women’s singles champion Angelique Kerber you can see the Open banner fluttering on the left of screen.

This is actually the first time Seven Sport have used this position all tournament,

Obviously wanted RLA in the background, for the winner/trophie.

Also hence the hand-held microphones.

There’s also the other two studios:

The main outside one near Margaret Court Arena (it has glass, but they used a green screen in front of it of Melbourne skyline, where Joh Griggs opened from & Basil for late night had a backdrop from outside Melbourne Park).

And the inside one at RLA. Where Hamish usually is, with glass opening onto the arena.

The Bathurst 12 Hour motor race will be held at Mount Panorama next Sunday but has got next to no mention during Seven’s Australian Open coverage. The broadcast times can be found here
The whole race will be streamed live on Plus7.

Seven to broadcast Matildas Olympic Games Qualifiers

From 29 February

The Westfield Matildas will be showcased on free to air commercial television for the first time with the Seven Network signing an agreement with Football Federation Australia (FFA) to broadcast the Olympic Games Qualifiers, which start on February 29 in Japan.

The partnership is a significant step forward for women’s football after the Matildas captured the hearts of the nation with their deeds at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ironically, the Matildas will start their quest to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games with a match against Japan, who knocked the Australians out of the World Cup with a 1-0 win in the quarter finals.

That match will be broadcast on 7mate and streamed on Plus7 Live from 9.30pm on Monday 29 February.

The Matildas will also play Vietnam (2 March), Korea Republic (4 March), DPR Korea (7 March) and China (9 March) with the top two teams advancing to represent the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

FFA CEO David Gallop was delighted the Seven Network had taken the leap to broadcast the Matildas on free to air commercial television as FFA’s long term strategy to grow women’s football continues to gather momentum.

“This broadcast agreement with the Seven Network is a breakthrough moment for women’s football and due recognition to the deeds of the Matildas at last year’s World Cup,” Gallop said.

“FFA is committed to growing women’s football and this is a pleasing sign that the long term strategy we have been undertaking over the last two years with women’s football is starting to bear fruit.

“Over the last two years we have invested a significant amount of resources into women’s football, in particular the Matildas program, and following the on field success at the World Cup, this is a positive sign that we are making headway off the field.

“We thank for the Seven Network for their commitment and look forward to watching the Matildas battle for a place in the Olympic Games.”

Perth 3.30pm LIVE on Channel 7

This must be the worst case scenario for 7 with the men’s final. Not only is it the dreaded djokovic-Murray but very one sided.

There was lots of criticism on social media that the trophy emoji was missing from the scoreboard on championship point during the women’s final. I thought there might be a chance it would be back for the men’s final, but no.

And the cricket on Nine went to the last ball! Kinda like the AFL/NRL grand final last year.

The ratings won’t be what Seven were hoping for (i.e.) 2 million metro.

If they are for any coded segment, I’ll be very surprised.

Due to 1) non-5 set thriller 2) IACGMOOH and X Files competition 3) + cricket (albeit dead rubber).

Tennis presentations: 1.65 - 1.7m?

Is it just me or did the Seven logo turn 3D at some points?

So is it “After The Tennis” yet?
