The FINA World Championships actually start on July 14 with the opening ceremony, synchronised swimming and diving finals. Why is Seven not interested in covering the first week, given it showed diving at last year’s Rio Olympics? There should be live coverage of some sort on Plus7.
Completely different proposition.
Saw the promo for the Rugby League World Cup during The Front Bar tonight. The video concentrates on overseas teams with a brief glimpse of Johnathan Thurston. Is that because the Australian players are contracted to Nine and won’t be available until their current season is over?
Basil Zempilas will probably take some leave when his third child is due next month. Someone will replace Basil for swimming and AFL. For AFL, it will more likely be either Hamish McLachlan or Jason Bennett.
Seven are mostly airing the promo which the tournament has produced to promote it. However, there’s been promos I’ve seen using that as a foundation and having several of the players saying the RLWC is on Seven
This has been airing for months.
I usually see it out of the laat ad break, before the end of Seven’s AFL (yes I know, late night, don’t get the point).
The tournament is still months away so perhaps just branding. If a person is still watching at the end of post-match AFL coverage they’re likely to be a highly engaged sports fan rather than just a casual viewer so more likely to be influenced to watch RLWC.
Like myself
That’s the version I saw on TV last night.
Last night’s ep of The Front Bar, had a segment where Mick Molloy ‘left’ the desk and seemingly walked out the back, carrying around a photo frame in a hunerous segment.
It was made to look like he entered straight into the Seven studios (even though this was filmed earlier in the week, as he interacted with the Talking Footy panel & The Front Bar is live at an off-site pub).
But it showed great shots of Broadcast Centre Melbourne (Mick in the elevator with the “Cash Cow”, Jennifer Keyte in her office, other angles of the news room, Seven Sport hall/presenter photo portraits and another angle of the main foyer with Master Control windows in the background
But they haven’t uploaded the ep to Plus7, so I can show via screenshots.
Andy Maher confirmed a while ago that The Front Bar is filmed at 7 studios in Melbourne this year.
Oh really?
That’s a real fib then regarding the hotel shots to and from ad breaks.
Gosh next they’ll be saying Neighbours isn’t filmed inside people’s real houses…
Does hunerous mean not quite funny?
Did you not notice when Mick returned, he left a door behind the desk open showing the back of the set.
I’d always assumed (naturally) it was a set inside a pub?
It was at the All Nations for a while wasn’t it?
That’s different and you know it.
so it’s not a “fib” by them if you’re the one making the mistake
But I know it was filmed in a pub, perhaps that was when it was a web series?
Anyway, I stand corrected.
When the show began as a web series for the AFL website it was filmed at All Nations Hotel in Richmond. After Seven picked up the TV rights it was still filmed in the pub, before it moved to Seven’s Docklands studios.
