Monday 26 December

Over 90 boats, including four super maxis, will make a stunning Boxing Day sight on Sydney Harbour as they set off to contest the 72nd Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

This year’s fleet includes 12 international entries and multiple former winners and line honours winners.

Scandinavian Ludde Ingvall has completely redesigned his 2004 line honours winner super maxi Nicorette and rebadged it CQS, in order to challenge eight-time honours winner Wild Oats XI.
This year’s race will also mark a milestone as Adrienne Cahalan will become the first woman to sail in 25 Sydney to Hobart races, as she navigates the TP52 Ragamuffin.

International entries will come from Germany, China, Hong Kong, UK, Sweden, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, the USA and Korea.

Germany’s Jens Kellinghusen returns to the race following his successful Division 1 win in 2013. His latest boat, Varuna VI will feature a canting keel, double rudders and daggerboards.

Caught a glimpse of a tennis promo last night, interesting that they’re basically portraying the terrible twins (Kyrgios and Tomic) as “Rebels” against the legends. Not sure that they should be lumping Alia Tomiljanovic in that category though…

Damn. Another event that would look nice in HD.

Isn’t she going out with Kyrgios?

Yeah Ch 7’s tennis promo is a big LOL (“rebels”)

The only mention of HD in Seven’s media release relates to streaming… No info on what broadcast coverage to expect except what it says above.

Even less likely now with this announcement. If you want HD, you pay

For any NFL fans out there, matches will be shown live on 7mate tomorrow (Christmas Day) and Boxing Day. The reason is that with Christmas Day on a Sunday, most of this weekend’s matches will be played on Saturday in the US, leaving two matches on Sunday itself.

###Bathurst 12 Hour

LIVE on 7mate: THE BIGGEST EVER BATHURST 12 HOUR

THE MOST talent-packed group of drivers ever to tackle a motor race at the iconic Mount Panorama circuit will descend on Bathurst this week for the annual Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

More than 160 drivers from 17 countries, including current World and Australian champions, will compete in the 12- hour race for GT vehicles from brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini.

The three-day event is held next weekend (February 3-5), with Sunday’s race broadcast live on 7mate for the entire day (5:30am – 6:00pm AEDT). The top-10 shootout qualifying session on Saturday will also be live on 7mate between 3:30pm – 4:30pm, while an international audience in more than 170 countries will watch via a free live stream on the event website.

The 12-hour has grown exponentially since adopting global ‘GT3’ regulations in 2011 and this year will sport a grid of nearly 60 cars, representing 15 brands.

Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Aston Martin, Mercedes-AMG, Lamborghini, Nissan, Bentley, BMW and defending champions McLaren will all battle it out for outright honours across the 12-hours.

The driver roster is a global ‘who’s who’ of racing talent with some of Australia’s biggest names going head-to-head, or in some cases driving alongside, the some of the world’s best drivers.

Headlining the list are some of Australian Motorsport’s biggest names, including six-time Bathurst 1000 champion Craig Lowndes, Six-time Supercars champion Jamie Whincup and touring car legend Mark Skaife.

Skaife will drive a BMW M6 GT3 with old sparring partner Russell Ingall, former Bathurst-winning teammate Tony Longhurst and ex-F1 star Timo Glock in a powerhouse combination.

11 drivers on the grid have previous success in the Bathurst 1000 race, accounting for a remarkable 32 victories between them, while 9 drivers starting the 12-hour have won the Supercars championship – including defending champ, Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen.

Half of the 2016 Supercars championship grid will feature in the race, including former champion Mark Winterbottom and 2014 Bathurst winner Chaz Mostert, amongst others.

Six-time champ Jamie Whincup and long-time rival Mark Winterbottom will both make their GT racing debuts this February, Whincup reunited with Craig Lowndes in a Ferrari while ‘Frosty’ will race a BMW with his Bathurst 1000 winning teammate Steve Richards.

Now billed by major car manufacturers as a ‘must win’ event, the Bathurst 12 Hour has attracted factory support from major brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Mercedes AMG.

NFL Super Bowl 51

Monday 10am AEDT

The Patriots and Falcons take the field in America’s biggest sporting event, the NFL Super Bowl 51,
Monday February 6 LIVE and FREE on Seven.

This year’s game is set to take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas for what is sure to be yet
another spectacular event, including half time entertainment from Lady Gaga.

The Falcons were first to secure their spot in the 2017 Super Bowl after defeating the Packers

Patriots have a Super Bowl history of 4-4 and will not lose the strike rate without a fight.

Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Matt Ryan will go head to head in the clash. Brady has played in and won
three Super Bowls and was awarded Super Bowl MVP each time. This will be Ryan’s first Super Bowl
appearance which comes after setting an NFL record in October 2016 for most consecutive games with
at least 200 passing yards with 46 straight games.

Seven will broadcast LIVE direct from Texas with Fox Sports’ Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the call
and Erin Andrews and Chris Myers reporting from the sidelines.

Lady Gaga, winner of six Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee, will headline
this year’s Halftime Show. The Super Bowl Halftime Show is the most watched musical event of the
