Seven Sport

This is what the signpost looks like on the 7plus homepage.

The 7plus live streaming is not ideal for other broadcasters looking for clips for their evening news bulletins.

You really have a unique way of thinking sometimes Johnson, I love it.

Seven can provide footage if requested, I’m sure.

Newsrooms can ingest online content relatively easily now.
And events like this usually provide video news releases to media too.

I have seen bulletins, such as Seven’s Sunrise, use content they’ve sourced from bvod platforms, such as 9Now tennis replays or live streams on an outside court.

But I’ve also seen those feeds provided to broadcasters or pooled, like you see with the bigger Sunrise and Today logos, when there’s a topical segment making news or with the PM for example. Yesterday there was one with a large 7News logo, with the opposition leader chatting to Natarsha Belling on Seven’s Noon News.

As if these channel changes couldn’t get weirder, now we’ve got (according to the EPG) the races on 7Two finishing now at 5:20pm edt, as women’s Ashes moves there, because the Sri Lanka test is going to 7mate, so a quarter century old re-run of Border can air on the main channel at 5:30… Are Seven seriously that precious of Seven News’ lead-in on a Saturday! Meanwhile what happens to the horse racing, is it like the road race earlier, just disappears to 7Plus?

My tv has the SL v Aus on 7 & 7two running concurrently with the Women’s Ashes on 7mate. At 5:30pm SL v Aus is going to 7two.

Probably because it’s during the Lunch break. That’s why they have Border as the lead in to 6pm news

QLD has had the test on 7 and 7Two since the end of the racing. Border Security started on the main channel in Brisbane at 4.30 with the lunch break on 7Two, Ashes is on 7Mate.

Channel change advice

I will never understand how old reruns of Border Security could possibly rate well enough to be the preferred lead-in to the 6pm news.

I can understand not wanting to lead in with a cricket lunch break, but surely there’s better things they could put on for 20-25 minutes so they don’t need to cut off mid-review with a few balls left.

Listen guys, the one thing guaranteed to be on is the news on 7 at 6pm.
Everything else will be somewhere on 7 who knows which channel.

Both the Womens Ashes and Aus vs Sir Lanka Mens First Test finished a Day Early, which means the Main Channel will screen the Cadel Evans Men’s Road Race in it’s Entirety Tomorrow, That’s lighten the Sporting load a lot.

NFL game to be played in Melbourne in October 2026.
After the AFL GF and played during the day to capitalise on the evening audience in the US.
Part of the regular season so would it be telecast on 7?

Melbourne AFL captain Max Gawn, a keen cyclist, will be guest commentator for the men’s race in today’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. Gawn also took part in the People’s Ride alongside Evans yesterday.

Nice scenery; an interesting look at the area.

There was some speculation here their rights were up after this season IIRC?

Really enjoying this coverage, don’t usually watch it at least in full, can’t believe it’s 10 years. Seems like the telecast has improved even more (is it internal Seven Sport or an external production company?) The weather has also been picture perfect. Such a beautiful, iconic part of not just Australia but the world (12 Apostles, Great Ocean Road, Bells Beach) :sunglasses:

And Phil Liggett, after announcing to Eddie McGuire on Nine’s Olympics last year he’s retiring from those biggest events, how good calling this!

Expert commentator Matthew Keenan said Jesse Tobin has called in from whereever his position is saying there’s rain/storms on the horizon popping up.

Victoria currently in a severe heatwave, 3 consecutive days from today of close to 40 degrees, including high overnight lows and chance of severe thunderstorms as well. Also high bushfire alerts, already worrying given the western Vic ones still burning, authorities say a chance to merge into one mega one.

edit

Really enjoying Matt Keenan’s commentary as well, very insightful and analytical, seems to know everything about everyone, even the circuit.

And FWIW Max Gawn was quite impressive earlier.

Cadel Evans himself has joined the commentary box about an hour ago.

Under the current deal, no. International games, which the MCG one would be a part of, are currently shown on ESPN, whereas 7 only gets two of the CBS/Fox Sunday games a week during the regular season.
Having said that, 7’s deal with NFL runs out after the Super Bowl this week, so they might make a play for more games on free-to-air, including any played in Australia, if they so desired.

Seven has been able to show some international games under their current agreement. For example, they aired the Munich game in November:
