Seven Sport

Just an update to the Swimming as per above, the Finals will be shown live. The B Finals start at 7:30pm so the A Finals will air live on Channel 7 from April 9.

The Sun-Herald’s Adrian Proszenko wrote yesterday that Seven is planning new mid week rugby league show as part of its Rugby League World Cup coverage later this year. Meanwhile Seven is still searching for commentators and personalities for its RLWC broadcast.

The most cost effective and logical solution would be to strike a deal to simulcast with Fox League. That way they can recoup some of the rights costs and share the existing pool of commentators.

Aussies set to spark The Masters

Thursday April 6 to Monday April 10 - 7mate and streamed on PLUS7 Live

World no. 3 Jason Day and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott lead the Aussie charge at Augusta in their quest to take out the coveted green jacket.

Day is still planning to head to Augusta, following his withdrawal from last week’s World Match Play due to his Mum’s health battle. The hearts of Aussie golf fans will be in his corner.

Scott tees up this weekend at the Houston Open for some tournament golf ahead of The Masters as he aims to claim his second major. He has spent the past month practising at his Bahamas base and will now put his new 2017 schedule to the test, as he plans to play the week before each of the four majors.

World no. 1 Dustin Johnson will head to Augusta as favourite, while Texan Jordan Speith will take confidence from his three outings at Augusta including one green jacket and two near misses.

World no. 2 Rory McIlroy will be hoping weather forecasts for a rain-soaked major are right as the long driver then takes aim at pins from close range with softer greens, while 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett also headlines an impressive international field.

Recent Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Marc Leishman, Rod Pampling and world no. 1 amateur Curtis Luck are other Australians who will have the privilege of gracing the fairways at Augusta for the Master this year.

Australian major winners Ian Baker-Finch and Wayne Grady will again lead and preview all the action from Augusta alongside broadcasting doyen ‘Whispering’ Pat Welsh. Peter Donegan will be providing hosting duties.

In addition to Seven’s expert team, there will be commentary from a string of the biggest names in golf via the host broadcaster CBS, including iconic host Jim Nantz and former Masters champion Nick Faldo.

7mate’s coverage tees off with the Par 3 contest on Thursday April 6, followed by the four days of the prestigious tournament.

INTRUST SUPER SHUTE SHIELD (RD 3)

The 2017 Intrust Super Shute Shield Season is well and truly in full swing. Those that anticipated an unpredictable and exciting season were certainly right with some interesting results already!

Viewers that tuned in to 7TWO on Saturday were treated to a great day at Forshaw Rugby Park for Ladies Day. Southern Districts bounced back after a Round 1 defeat, beating Randwick 39-14.

There is plenty of club rugby action to look forward to this Easter weekend with Norths and Southern Districts to kick off Round 3. This is sure to be a cracking day of rugby at North Sydney Oval on Good Friday. With the NSW Waratahs having a bye this weekend, we have plenty of players rejoining their old club rugby teammates.

On Saturday, our broadcast match of the round is Manly v Southern Districts LIVE from Manly Oval. After missing the playoffs last year, Manly have started their 2017 Intrust Super Shute Shield campaign with a bang with impressive victories over Southern Districts and Sydney University.

“The most positive part is that I still don’t think we’re attacking as well as we could be. We’re scoring some good tries but I still don’t think we’ve clicked yet, so that’s exciting," Manly flyhalf Sam Lane said.

On Saturday, they host a Parramatta side that will be boosted by the inclusions of Waratahs David Lolohea and Senio Teleofoa. The Two Blues have added plenty of class to their side this year and will be desperate to claim their first win of the season, after letting a five-point lead slip against Eastern Suburbs late in the match last weekend.

Catch all the action live from 3PM, only on 7TWO.

From November 7mate will broadcast 32 hours of a new yachting competition, the 26-foot SuperFoiler Grand Prix to be held at various venues around Australia. Seven used to broadcast the 18-foot races on Sydney Harbour 20 plus years ago. (The Australian).

Seven Network secures broadcast rights to Women’s Rugby League World Cup 2017

The Rugby League World Cup 2017 (RLWC2017) Organising Committee is pleased to confirm that the Seven Network has secured the Australian broadcast rights to this year’s Women’s Rugby League World Cup.

Under the terms of the deal, in a first for the Women’s Rugby League World Cup, the Seven Network will broadcast all 12 matches of the tournament on free-to-air television and also stream all 12 matches live across the “screens of Seven”. The Women’s Rugby League World Cup 2017 will culminate in the final on 2 December 2017 in Brisbane, where history will be created when both the men’s and women’s finals are played on the same day, on the same stage with the Seven Network broadcasting the double-header live and free across Australia.

RLWC2017 Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Hill said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Seven Network in an historic deal that will showcase the Women’s Rugby League World Cup on free-to-air television across Australia.

“The agreement to broadcast every match of the tournament across Australia on the Seven Network is a significant step forward for Rugby League, providing a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the skills and competitiveness of the women’s game.

“The Organising Committee is incredibly proud to be conducting a tournament that has attracted significant investment from both government and commercial partners whilst profiling the players and game like no previous Rugby League event.”

This year’s tournament will be first time the Women’s Rugby League World Cup has been held asa standalone event, with the pool matches to be played at Southern Cross Group Stadium in Cronulla (Sydney) as triple-headers on November 16, 19 and 22 with the semi-finals to be played as a double-header on November 26.

In July 2016, the Seven Network announced it had secured the all-encompassing broadcast rights to the men’s Rugby League World Cup 2017, further enhancing its position as Australia’s market leader for premium domestic and international sporting events.

Commenting, Saul Shtein, Seven’s Head of Sport, said: “We are delighted to be Australia’s home of international rugby league in 2017 with the Seven Network to broadcast all forty games of the men’s and women’s Rugby League World Cups.

“We are looking forward to committing our network to both the coverage and promotion of women’s Rugby League across the screens of Seven, with a dedicated live channel for all the Australian Jillaroos games throughout the tournament as they seek to claim the title of 2017 World Cup winners.

“It will be a great event and, in a tournament first, Seven will cover all matches of the Women’s Rugby League World Cup on television and also live-stream. We will cover it all.”

The RLWC2017 Organising Committee can also confirm that SKY Sport (NZ) has secured the New Zealand broadcast rights to the Women’s Rugby League World Cup 2017, with EMTV granted the rights in Papua New Guinea.

“Female participation is one of the fastest growing areas of the sport. To be able to broadcast the Women’s Rugby League World Cup across multiple international markets will not only promote women’s Rugby League to a wider audience than ever before, but inspire further growth of the game from grassroots to the elite level,” concluded Hill.

The Rugby League International Federation confirmed that Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, England, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea will be the six teams to contest the Women’s Rugby League World Cup 2017.

The RLWC2017 Organising Committee would also like to acknowledge the NSW Government, Queensland Government and Federal Government for their support of the Women’s Rugby League World Cup 2017.
