Seven (Southern Cross)

@jackkk - thanks for your detailed explanation of the Darwin channels. If they all run in CST all year, and because the NT doesn’t observe DST, I assume all channels have to drop a one-hour program or insert a one-hour filler on the days DST starts and ends in VIC/NSW - to ensure programs continue to be transmitted “on time”? I’m sure that happens in QLD and WA.

Seems as if Channel 7 has said No to SCA renaming their news as all TV Guides have reverted to “Southern Cross News” from Monday.

Even on Facebook and Twitter, the Tasmania pages have reverted back. Maybe it has been postponed due to technical reasons?

I don’t believe Facebook had switched its URL over. Their Twitter handle has been @7NewsTasmania for at least a week or two now, but the username and avatar have been kept "Southern Cross News until the switch.

Social media for SA has remained unchanged. No mention of rebranding online or on-air. They really should’ve started at least last week.

Don’t really think there is a point, change over starts on July 1. If they wanted to do everything earlier then they would of just changed branding straight away when the announcement was made…

Yeah I noticed that SCA’s own website guide had reverted back too which seemed odd.

The EPG broadcast names have changed over sometime this afternoon now too. Unfortunately no 7Flix at this stage, hopefully next week but probably unlikely

6 - 7 Launceston (or Hobart - previously SCTV with no place name)
60 - 7HD (previously SCTV HD)
61 - 7 Launceston
62 - 7TWO
63 - 7mate
64 - SBN
68 - racing.com

Really? Still SC9/SC10 not just Nine/Ten? They’re ditching the main channel branding, they might as well clean up the other channels. Switch the LCNs while they’re at it.

Do you know if there are any other location names used in that market? I know “GTS/BKN Broken Hill” exists. What about Spencer Gulf?

With regards to the 7 News switchover it looks like the initial post and photo on the fb page has disappeared completely. The post about being 7 Tasmania on the main SC page remains.

Still on Twitter too.

We have a major announcement!

As of July 1st, Southern Cross News will officially change to 7 News Tasmania.

Don't worry - We'll still bring you the same news, with same crew and the same faces you know and love!#ChangeIsComing #sxnews #7NewsTasmania pic.twitter.com/6iXVHKmcbj

Nine’s place is still technically on LCN 8, It’s just WIN that didn’t want to give up the 8x LCN.

Yeah, you’d think, or at least, be consistent and name 7, SC7.

It’s all labeled “Port Pirie” in Whyalla, Port Augusta and surrounding areas as the signal comes from the same transmitter site, The Bluff, near Wirrabara.

I know “Port Lincoln” is used in that area, and of course, “Broken Hill” but unsure about other transmitter sites such as Quorn, Clare, Burra, Cowell etc…

Not Spencer gulf. They are known as now (before):

7 Port Pirie (gts/bkn Port Pirie)
7 Port Lincoln (gts/bkn Port Lincoln)
7 Broken Hill (gts/bkn Broken Hill)

7 Central - South
7 Central - North

Highly doubt it. Seven wouldn’t have given permission in the first place otherwise. Why tell the market something, only to undo everything.

The guide on the Southern Cross website itself had changed to showing 7 News Tasmania from Sunday but it has reverted back for the rest of the week and there was no mention at all at the end of the bulletin tonight. If anything, I’ve actually seen an increase in ads for SC News the past few days compared to the rest of this month.

All the other online guides hadn’t changed yet and have all used the SC logo and the Southern Cross News entry.
