If it’s true that the news bulletins won’t be rebranded from tomorrow, I personally wonder if Seven had serious reservations about SCA using the Seven News brand after seeing the quality of On-Air Presentation of Southern Cross News Regional SA/Broken Hill and the “Local News Headlines” in Darwin + Remote Central/Eastern Australia…
Probably more of a trademark issue.
gets crystal ball
If it’s anything, it’ll be more like the case with NBN - trying to leverage the trusted brand and worried that it’ll be too much change at once to have the channel rebrand to Seven, and have the news change as well.
I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s more that they need a few more weeks to swap out all the SC branding - with stuff like the opener and the logo on the set.
There’s zero chance that they didn’t discuss this all with Seven and there’s any kind of thing stopping them externally.
Exactly. And I’m sure Seven has seen how the Nine brand is working under SC9 and want to get in on similar agreement.
I’m sure they might have sussed that out well beforehand
12:03am and in the adbreak between sections of First Dates it was mostly 7 as it has been up to now and local commercials but then finished with a SC Dance Boss. I’m thinking the slow transition is what is being implemented, get the 7 brand fully in there over a few weeks - a promo here and there, then more, then switch to the dirty feed and watermark, more and more promos and slowly phase out the SC brand. Then once that’s fully done, do the news as well.
I reckon a few more SC promos to come through for a little while.
EDIT: The next adbreak at 12:15am had two Southern Cross CSA’s and an ad for Southern Cross including stories from Saturday’s bulletin only a few hours earlier and Rachel Williams talking about always trusting Southern Cross News.
I’d say it’s still going ahead. It’s not unusual for networks to relaunch at 6am instead of midnight. If we were seeing no other changes like channel names, dirty feed, etc, then I’d be skeptical.
Nothing special showed at midnight on 7 Tas. I was watching just to see if something would happen. Still showing SCTV promos, with the 7 watermark in the corner of programs as of 12:40 am on the 1st of July.
Still sure it’s going ahead, just not as fast as first thought or a straight cutover which I expected when it was all first announced.
If I wake up at 3AM to see what happen at 6AM in AU, myfriends…
8am and still no changes, all promos I’ve seen are 7, the Southern Cross News ad from last night has been running and several events sponsored by Southern Cross have aired with the SC logo. Haven’t seen any actual SC promos though or what’s on tonight screens or CSA’s etc…
They might do a Prime an introduced the 7 brand at 6pm in the evening?
Yeah, had been wondering if that would happen last night prior to the 1st. Traditionally the 6pm Sunday slot has been used for many relaunches.
Yeah, Midnight, 6:00am and 6:00pm are the traditional launch times. Missed the first two so it must be the third.
Remember the good old days of 2016 with the affiliation swap. At least it was easy to know the time of the change for that one!
Yep, the movie last night had zero SC promos or idents. It was scheduled for midnight start but was pushed back to 12.40am due to AFL.
So Southern Cross, as a channel brand, is no more by the looks of it.

so is it 7 tasmania or is still southern cross???
Is the ‘CC’ icon on Central South the seven one or the SC one?
As far as I can tell it’s Seven Tasmania. All promos (except news) are 7 branded. Channel name on EPG has also changed to 7 Tasmania.
