Seven (Southern Cross)

Kind of, particularly if services that don’t exist are being advertised when people are most likely to see them. “What’s 7flix?”

Besides, I was just posting the changes as they happen rather than commenting about dirty vs clean feeds.

However SBN pay to have their channel there, so therefore it’s valuable to SCA.

First sponsored event I’ve seen with the new logo. Just the plain 7 logo (no 7 Tasmania). The first one is one of the old Southern Cross ones.

Also looks like the 7newstasmania.com.au will be their new domain as that now redirects to SCA. Lots of others available which they haven’t snapped up including:
7tasmania.com.au
7tas.com.au
7newstas.com.au

I think this would be the ideal domain. Purchase the others and redirect them to this one. Inspired by Seven Queensland, and gives them the ability to put more than just news on it if they want to.

I think that would defeat the purpose of going with Seven branding. They should have a place on 7news.com.au for Tasmania and SA and have no other web presence.

TV Week with the change and updated logos.
Freeview, Fetch and TVFix guides dont have the change and still have Southern Cross News next Sunday night.

Surprised Nine isn’t listed as TDT with the dodgy TDT logo. Have they given up on that brand?

Only lasted a week or two in TV Week like that, it’s still like that on Foxtel but that’s the only place it’s ever seen. Even on the building it’s the Nine logo alongside WIN (mappy from memory) and the ABC as they all live together at the ABC building in Hobart.

That’s good. Always thought it was a last-ditch attempt by WIN to sabotage the Nine brand in their territory. Glad it never took off!

Yeah, I did think that too originally but I think in the end it was probably just a case of they needed something as there was no deal - so it would have been a channel with no programming but at least they had a fancy logo while negotiating for the Nine deal which in the end was only signed a few hours before midnight on the deadline.

Without a clean feed and their own PRG / Watermark, it was never going to take off.

I think you’re right. I never thought of it like that.

Yeah but you know what WIN’s like. They’re never consistent.

Of course it could, just place it over the top as a cover up.

Why abbreviated as “SCT”? SCTV is the norm… Southern Cross Tasmania??

Southern Cross Television I believe but certainly known really as SCTV or Southern Cross.

Hi Si-Co,
Noticed this post while researching the disgusting of losing the watermark-free SCTV to 7 logo on Darwin. To answer your questions,
all channels except Racing.com and likely SBN (I’ve deleted this channel) are broadcast in CST all year round. Infrequently, Sunrise will be broadcast live (without the clock being updated; makes for some interesting mornings during EDST). Sporting events are broadcast live, which usually means that the news is broadcast half an hour earlier to accommodate or a filler programmed is aired if before the news.

Nine Darwin does appear to be from TCN, as we’re more likely to see Sydney’s afternoon news. Since Southern Cross made a deal with Nine for news, our news has been a re-broadcast of the Regional Qld program, with the local 5 min window. Our newsreader was transferred to read this bulletin before his promotion to weekend reader. We receive the Qld weekend news.

SCTV and DDT are re-transmissions of the Melbourne stations. We cop Melbourne news on both channels. Noodle updates are provided on SCTV only. Of course, Brisbane news would make more sense but that’s just crazy talk! I’ve seen the Adelaide news on SCTV once or twice.

We don’t receive 7flix, Ten HD or 7 HD. 7mate is still 100% HD. TVSN is broadcast on 75. We still have community TV in the form of Aboriginal TV, Darwin TV, Tourism TV and Education TV. Some radio stations are also broadcast in the 400s.

Give Me Five for Kids Telethon has been held all day on SC Tas. Watermark has been onscreen all day (not sure what time it started, my morning recordings failed but it was certainly there in the midday movie)

Telethon crosses at the start of every break, split between Hobart and Launceston. Launnie ones include people like Rachel Williams, Jo, Tom Johnson, Peter Murphy etc… Hobart ones include Triple M broadcasters like Dave Noonan, Tom Cooper from the news and other Hobart reporters.

There’s also been an ad on high rotation too through most ad breaks. The cross with Jo included some good behind the scenes shots of the new studio and control room and then her appearing at the news desk only a second later! The magic of TV!

A typical cross in each ad break:

The cross with Jo and the news control room:

The other ad during most ad breaks:

It’s kinda weird that Nine Darwin didn’t flipped full-time to Brisbane since the news was transmitted from there. But that’s for another thread, I suppose.
