Yet they have regional variations on GEM (Nine Darwin News)!
For Imparja, SC Central and Ten Central, yes. But would the revenue justify the expense?
Yes, which is shown live at 7.30pm AEDT during daylight saving. It takes out a huge chunk of Gem’s prime time and I’m yet to see where they move the programming.
Nice to see an SCTV clip! Do Darwin, GTS-BKN, Tassie and other SC markets share the same branding and continuity (when appropriate)?
Yes
How long has it been branded as “Southern Cross” rather than “Southern Cross Television”?
Years. I think probably even since the old swap to the Tiger logo back in 2001.
Does Southern Cross still have that plain white “SCTV” text in the top right corner?
Last time I was in the remote QLD market, SC didn’t have a watermark on screen but rather had plain white text on screen permanently saying “SCTV”.
Only on the North feed. South is watermark-free like the rest of the SC’s. Not sure why they do it. Maybe they overlap a lot of areas in Qld?
Could also be because of signal overlap with Indonesia and PNG.
The news updates for Darwin have Southern Cross Television branding though.
You’re right, I honestly haven’t really noticed, thinking about it though I think there’s a mix of both. All the promos seen are just Southern Cross then most will be just the Star like in the RPG and then the website, the Darwin news and other things will have the Southern Cross Television.
Maybe because there’s no watermarks and it’s not so in your face we haven’t noticed!
All SCTV areas use the same predominantly blue presentation which has been in use since February 2013.
Here’s a few older clips that I and @WAtvVideos have uploaded:
And the production music played to the different presentation elements:
However, something they never bothered updating as they still use this old ‘Paid Presentation’ notice from the 2004-05 presentation for early morning Infomercials:
Maybe because nobody watches infomercials
I still find it rather odd that SC went to the effort to establish and maintain a unique identity for SC7, but did not in the later SC10 years.
I imagine Imparja’s local branding was a major reason for Seven Central becoming Southern Cross. Both brands are quite well regarded now. I am surprised by how strongly they’ve maintained the brand though.
Opposite story from PRIME and GWN, both of which killed their regional charm to pursue closer branding with their metro counterpart.
