The overall idea is good and the promos look great (so glad they aren’t using the stupid gloss and 3D gradients for their looks. Far too outdated). But the execution is somewhat disappointing. For example, the placement of the logo next to the: ‘Starts next’ or whatever isn’t aligned properly and doesn’t look fantastic. Also why does part of the text in the promo end boards disappear into the slants? A lack of thought going into the design of this part.
The white logo does look great though. Finally the dinosaurs are waking up and doing something which is always a good start.
The new look Seven seems OK, but far from their best ever. Cue the comments from Network Ten about the striking similarities with parts of this new package and the graphics on the channel two clicks up!
Design wise I’d certainly rate it below the packages on every other FTA network except Nine…although I’m sure they’ll eventually relaunch with something better.
I agree, although Seven have only sporadically aired a generic 5 Second Ident in recent years while the last major launch promo was probably around a decade ago?
I personally like it! I would make a couple of minor changes, but I do like the consistent use of the slant. Looking forward to multi channels changing, as it looks a tad mismatched at the moment.
Are the multis still old and all over the shop? Maybe tonight they wanted to test transmit only on the main channel after 7pm before a full roll out across this week on all channels by AFL time?
Oh yeah, I forgot about that “7(Market)” campaign. Can’t imagine a similar promo airing these days with the gutting of local programming that has happened recently!
If they wanted to signal a change (which they need to do) they should have done better than this. This is completely un-noticeable to anyone. Viewers and industry. Also they should have ditched GOTTALOVEIT which is meaningless and tied to their glory days - and launched a new slogan that signals their mission statement
I’d even go as far as saying there should’ve been teaser promos building up to the launch of “the new look Seven” - perhaps showcasing all the old logos and memorable network moments from over the years. Something which says to the Australian public “big changes are coming to Seven and you’re going to like them”!
