The relationship between the commercials and the ABC (and to a lesser extent SBS) is less adversarial (might be a bit harsh of a word) than between each other. If he was talking to Nine for example, that would be different. He might also feel more comfortable opening up to people outside the organisation.
ABC’s Media Watch tonight had a segment on Karen Broadhurst’s recent reports from the Fraser Coast. Karen is in fact Marketing Manager of Fraser Coast Tourism and Events.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but the Twitter Banners have been updated with the presenters sitting at the desk in the Brisbane studios.
Facebook actually. Here’s that banner.
Safe to suggest the Regional QLD bulletins are about to be consolidated to Brisbane?
If so, the Sunny Coast would lose its LIVE bulletin and become a pre-recorded one for the 1st time, bringing it in line with the rest of their Regional QLD bulletins. At the moment, all Regional QLD 7NEWS bulletins (except for the Sunny Coast bulletin) are pre-recorded.
Or, maybe, they just wanted to make the banner look good? 9 used to put their regional presenters on the metro sets for promos when they did the bulletins for Southern Cross.
no it isn’t
Or maybe a sign of things to come? Maybe the Sunshine Coast set is being refreshed to look more like Brisbane.
You seem to get a little carried away with speculation.
It’s him who often creates the “speculation” though.
Most likely this

Read it twice @Radio_TVGuy and then twice more
“Twitter” changed to “X “over two years ago.![]()
There are no plans to move the production of 7Qld regional bulletins to Brisbane.
Joanne and Nathan went to Brisbane one morning for the sole purpose of recording various shots for promotional purposes in each market, including the one shown.
We don’t like change around here. It will always be Twitter ![]()
You didn’t have to clarify that but thank you. We all knew that. Well, all except one apparently. ![]()
New titlecards for each bulletin (except Wide Bay), new generic titlecard on the desk, and the theme music behind the voiceover has been re-arranged.
About bloody time Seven gave their other O&Os in the regions the new looks just like the metros do. This truly is the beginning of a new era for 7NEWS. New on-air graphics debuted in metropolitan areas, a totally new-look 7NEWS Tasmania (which was well overdue) came along today, and now (to top it all off) Regional NSW/QLD/WA got the same new metro graphics as well.
Why did Wide Bay not get the new-look graphics but every other region did? I was also surprised that Central QLD was refreshed, I thought THAT would’ve been the one without the new on-air look given their 7plus program cover had the old graphics.
And that re-arranged theme music certainly caught me off-guard! ![]()
All from a minor graphics refresh? ![]()
What are you smoking, and can I have some? ![]()
Bizarre move considering the sets look nothing alike. ![]()
Just an oversight? Probably nothing major
I thought the regional bulletins were recorded?
The Sunshine Coast one is live about 99% of the time.
