Seven News (Regional Qld)

I don’t see him returning. He’s likely running out his long-service leave before its announced he’s retiring. He’s past his use-by date now, go off and enjoy retirement Rob.

Agreed, when was the last time he was actually any good on air? Over a decade? More?

Surprised they didn’t make a big send off for him then let him run out his leave afterwards.

Exactly. We do it as teachers, that LSL is gone when you go.

Good point. Youd think theyd gkve him a roaring send off.

My comment wasn’t meant to be disrespectful.

Don’t worry. It wasn’t. How else were you supposed to describe the person you were talking about?

The only time Mt Isa received any sort of local.news was during the QTV News days around the time the state was aggregated. I believe it disappeared as quickly as it appeared

Nothing in the early days of 1970s or 80s?

They were doing a 5 minute local news at 11.55am and replayed at 5.55pm in 1989. No item footage, just a presenter reading from a paper script to camera. I have an example somewhere, I just need to find it.

A 5 minute bulletin at 11,:55am and 5:55pm is all i can find in old tv guides

I watched a couple of them over the years. The actual videos i saw are a step up on the noodle updates although in the same vein

All of the Seven News Regional Qld Facebook pages for each Queensland region has updated their header photos with Jo and Nathan shown in the posts above, so it’s safe to say that Rob isn’t coming back.

At most there may be an announcement of Rob’s “retirement” at an end of the regional bulletin in due course when his LSL runs out.

Probably seems likely at this point - a brief mention that he has left at the end of a bulletin, accompanied by maybe a short montage.

I saw some of it tonight. Looked to be coming from a green screen. I wonder how long it’s been like this?

No wide shots of the set all last week and this; background image on the screen is static.

Something definitely up.
Lighting looks different and seems like a green screen.
The give away is that opening shot where they’re sitting behind that set piece which is usually behind them, then in the single presenter shot its behind them like usual.
Quite convincing to the untrained eye.

Someone got the old Melbourne set??

I was going to say, the plasma might have given up and died, but judging by the photos (unless they were taken awhile ago) the plasma was on when the photo was taken.

We can wish but i don’t think they have the space for that :joy: But i wouldn’t complain if it ended up in Canberra.
