Seven News (Regional Qld)

How long does Rob Brough need to be off until Seven update the guide/7plus descriptions for the Qld bulletins?

It’s weird on 7plus that they have unique thumbnails for each bulletin - but not actually from the bulletin

Not a fan of Nathan Spurling, Ned Balme seemed to be so much better when he filled in, it sounds like Nathan is trying to channel the Brough style of being stilted and shouty.

Same with every other bulletin on 7Plus - they seem to have a variety of one’s they use, which can sometimes lead to a situation where a thumbnail with a recently departed presenter ends up being used.

As for why Rob is there, given the network maintains that he is on compassionate leave, I guess he will be listed on there till either they make an announcement, or he is quietly removed from promotional material, etc.

Hopefully Steve Titmus is on his way.

With Jo away on Friday, Emily Steinhardt and Nathan Spurling co-presented all bulletins including the Sunshine Coast.

Jo should be co presenting the Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Mackay bulletins also

It’s surprising that Steve Titmus was favoured for the Brisbane sports presenting role over Ben Davis. Steve would’ve been better off presenting the Regional Queensland bulletins while Rob Brough is on long-term compassionate leave. If he hadn’t been appointed as the Brisbane news sports presenter than he would’ve been a great successor for Rob Brough.

They have a rotating library of thumbnails taken from past bulletins. That’s why they never match what you play. They used to be really lax in getting rid of thumbnails with old staff too.

Steve lives on the Gold Coast, it would be almost a 400km return each day.

At the moment Jo copresents all 7 bulletins with Nathan Spurling for the Sunshine Coast Nathan only reads sport.

again, people can move for jobs.

Whatever Rob’s affliction is, they obviously don’t see the need to replace him yet.

From the 7 Brisbane studios to Surface Paradise, its a 176km round trip. I know plenty of people who travel that distance and more everyday for work.

As I stated earlier, Surfers to Maroochydore return is 360km that’s a big distance to drive daily read the 7Qld bulletins.
At the moment Steve commutes from the Gold Coast to BTQ.

With Nathan away last night, Brisbane reporter Ned Balme co-anchored the pre-recorded bulletins with Jo. A separate sports presenter was also used in this instance.

Ned is so much more pleasant to listen to than shouty Nathan.

If this the first time they’ve taken a full week off? My understanding is that they usually had just Christmas Day (and possibly Boxing Day) off.
