Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

Like Jodie Speers, Samantha was farewelled by Sunrise this morning:

Since Sean Berry has been Brett’s main and only fill-in, I suppose he will take over from Monday.

So I see Nine News has commenced their promo’s for Overton’s return.

When will we see the promo for the return of the number one news man? (Fergo, just incase you guys weren’t sure)

I have a feeling Seven News will roll it out this Sunday. I can’t wait. :grinning:

What I want incorporated in it the new ‘Mark Ferguson returns to Seven News promo’ you ask?

  • A beautiful rendition of the current Seven News theme music
  • Mark Ferguson face (of course)
  • The Sydney skyline
  • A peek at the new graphic end-board for Seven News updates in 2017. (Also hoping they incorporate the Sydney skyline with this end-board graphic for the news updates.

I don’t want to sound rude, but Mark Ferguson comes across to me as the type of news presenter who just reads whatever is on the autocue without any attempt to personalise his presentation or delivery of the news.

I’m pretty sure that “the number one news man” in the eyes of most Sydneysiders is Peter Overton, if the ratings are anything to go by.

And personally, I (and probably many other Sydneysiders on Media Spy) would be absolutely thrilled if Seven announced that Michael Usher was to become Sydney’s new Sunday-Thursday presenter with Mark Ferguson moving to Friday/Saturday nights in 2017.

While that promo mostly sounds like it would be a good one, it’s sadly overshadowed by your almost unhealthy love of Fergo[quote=“antonio1987, post:1680, topic:149”]

To answer your question, the daily bailey will be back soon, so don’t fret. You’ll have your daily dose of ‘drips across rooftops and crops’ and ‘the business of the brolley, predicted precipitation’ in no time. Hang in there!

Today was Sydney reporter Damien Smith’s last day with Seven, he had worked at the network for 20 years.

Damien Smith is leaving Seven News Sydney after 20 years at the network:

Hopefully we’ll still get to see his legendary puns and pieces to camera (my favourite is still the one from a couple of years ago reporting on some award winning gelato, using an ice cream as a mic and biting into it!) somewhere on TV in the future!

Hmm. Since when has Seven News Sydney become No.1 with Mark Ferguson in the seat (mind you the only two who has led Seven News Sydney to No.1 is Roscoe and Chris Bath)?

I’m not going to be as lenient as @sydneycitytv here, but IMO I would get rid of Mark Ferguson quick smart and put Michael Usher on weeknights along with bringing back Melissa Doyle for newsreading alongside Musher, then Ann Sanders or Angie Asimus (or even Angela Cox TBH) can take over weekend news, as Mark Ferguson is an experienced presenter on paper, but a really bad presenter On-Air and IMO should not present ANY bulletins on Seven at all!

Unfortunate reflection in the desk panel in the bottom photo which makes Liam Cox look like he needs to run to the bathroom. Fast.

You lot really need to learn to identify when somebody is clearly taking the piss.

Most people who take the piss try and be funny about it, though

Because Antonio says so.

Bill at the tennis has been great

Personally I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Mark Ferguson shouldn’t present any bulletins on Seven at all, but I’m not quite sure that his presenting style is the right fit for a Sydney 6pm bulletin. As I’ve said before, Fergo would probably be great on daytime bulletins or even a rolling news channel.

Since becoming the lead presenter of Nine News Sydney, we’ve seen Peter Overton refining his presenting style and feeling a lot more comfortable in the role. Comparing Overton’s newsreading from when he first became lead presenter of Nine News Sydney to his more recent presenting is almost like watching two different newsreaders. If only I could say the same about Mark Ferguson…

I know that we’re going back more than two decades here and that his tenure at the top was brief compared to the many years (if not decades) of dominance by Brian Henderson on Nine, but didn’t Roger Climpson also bring Seven’s Sydney news some ratings success during his time(s) in the chair?

To be fair, Nick McCallum has faired well in the ratings (by that I don’t necessarily mean wins, but there hasn’t been much of a drop or ratings as low as 100k or 200k) :+1:

Congrats Damien Smith, farewell

I was wondering, do Seven News Sydney have a ‘senior’ NRL reporter? Who did it use to be?

(e.g.) Ch 9: many & Ch 10: Adam Hawse (+ formerly Victoria Murphy and Rob Canning occasionally).

I don’t know if you could class him as an NRL reporter, but Patrick Molihan does many of the NRL reports (and other sports reports) for Seven News Sydney.

Angela Cox is presenting Saturday 5pm News bulletin for NSW & VIC viewers.

Josh Massoud. Liam Cox also does a lot of NRL reporting, as he did at Ten.
