Just wondering @SydneyCityTV if you were Seven News Sydney’s director of news, who would you pick as presenters of the 6pm news (considering some former presenters such as Chris Bath/Melissa Doyle was still on news)?
Seven have a much better promotional campaign happening now then they did 12-24 months ago though.

Seven has ‘many talents’ who can handle news programs but, as discussed on numerous occasions, they lack a talent who can attract viewers and lift the ratings on the main bulletin. Perhaps Seven thought Usher would be that person but he isn’t a recognised newsreader with a loyal following.

Hopefully Nick McCallum doesn’t work 7 days this week like Jacqueline Felgate did last week in Melbourne.l would like to see Blake Johnson on this weekend.

I don’t think Blake will anchor 6pm for a few more months yet. I think Seven News Melbourne are trying to familiarise him to the Melbourne audience before they ‘trust’ him with their main bulletin, even though he is more than capable IMO.
Michael Usher is still anchoring , despite him anchoring since Monday. I suppose Chris Reason will be doing tomorrow night?

I’m pretty sure Seven News Sydney won several ratings weeks at the end of 2015 and 2016 although in the overall scheme of things, Nine News Sydney has won every ratings year since 2011.
If I was the current director of news at Seven Sydney, I’d probably go with…
News: Michael Usher and Melissa Doyle (either presenter could go solo if their co-presenter was absent)
Sport: Jim Wilson
Weather: David Brown
…and on weekends:
News: Chris Reason
Sport: Mel McLaughlin
Weather: Sarah Cumming
Obviously I’m only taking into account presenters which are actually at the network right now. And I’d definitely also change the content & style of reporting, among other things.
True, but I’m sure we’ll see Nine News Sydney go one better than Seven’s latest promos at some point.

Yes Jason Morrison is still with Seven News Sydney but he’s their Director of News, no on-air roles or anything like that.

Saturday (31.12.16) - Sunday (01.01.17): Katrina Blowers is anchoring solo in Brisbane with Rohan Welsh on sport.
Interesting given that Angie was in for weather at 6pm as usual.

One would’ve thought that Reaso was worse than Ben Fordham, with Seven News literally smashed by Nine News last night, however, Seven News Brisbane with Katrina Blowers defeated Nine News with Alison Ariotti on the last bulletin of the year.
Chris Reason is barely better than Mark Ferguson as a newsreader. I don’t know, but he needs to liven up a bit with his On-Air Personality IMO.
Mind you, I do agree that Ben Fordham is worse than Chris Reason. But you do have to remember that Fordo presents the #1 drive show on Sydney radio during the year. Sydneysiders generally prefer Nine News over Seven News and unfortunately, Sydneysiders also seem to really like 2GB, so…
