Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

Speaking of this, what is the point of the NATIONAL news when you have two and a half local edition of news coming from three states, and only two states receiving NATIONAL news? A National Bulletin should be across the nation. A better solution is half an hour of national news, followed by half an hour of local news in each state.

With Ch 7 owning all operations in metro and regional QLD, theyā€™ve been in the best position for the special ā€˜Dreamworldā€™ news coverage, including the Gold Coast bureau.

Which they have done by utilising Rod Young (Gold Coast bulletin), local Gold Coast journos on the ground and Bill / Sharyn also on the ground. As well as special morning bulletins.

However all this hasnā€™t reflected in Brisbaneā€™s ratings.

Probably because Nine News Brisbane is doing the same.

Lolā€¦ typical Max Futcher ā€˜Are you going to zoom into me?ā€™ā€¦ Too bad they didnā€™t want to mate!

Sarah Cumming returning from maternity leave on Monday in a new role co-hosting The Daily Edition while Sally Obermeder is on maternity leave until August or September next year.So it seems David Brown will remain permanently as Sydney weather presenter.

Welcome Back Sarah.

Great News. He is the only member of the Sydney weeknight team that I can stand at the moment.

Last night Seven News drew with Nine News at 6pm.

Seven News beat Nine News at 6:30pm.

Michael Usher proving successful so farā€¦

While I see Michael as a welcome addition to the team, his success on a Friday night is probably best measured when the NRL returns next year. The momentum he may gain over the months before that is valuable but it is a big mountain to climb once the premium sport in NSW returns next year.

I actually think thatā€™s rubbish, same with Seven News in Melbourne leading-into Friday night footyā€¦

Unless the AFL / NRL leads-into 6pm News, it never really does anything.

Friday nights (excluding sport) are low-rating anyway.

So Michael Usher (7 Syd) & Peter Hitchener (9 Melb) have no excuse not to do well or win, IMO

If anything the NRL will be responsible for a decrease in viewers for both bulletins due to the scheduling of 6pm Friday games in 2017.

The fact that Michael has only won on Friday nights and then this week tied, I donā€™t think he is the solution to Seven News Sydneyā€™s woes. Yes he has proved to be better than Melissa Doyle and Chris Reason against Georgie Gardner but I generally think Sevenā€™s wins/increased ratings in Sydney is due to the lead-in from The Chase. Remember that even Mark Ferguson did well on the Friday evenings in the lead-up to Usherā€™s debut. Perhaps viewers want a male anchor on Friday/Saturdays.

Yes it does.

The other thing that comes into play is doing live crosses. It makes it a bit easier when Brisbane is one hour behind but hard when all the east coast is the same.

Viewers in Sydney donā€™t have any idea who Bianca Stone is. They want to hear from Robert Ovadia like they do every other night.

An overexaggerated generalisation?

Iā€™m in Melbourne & Iā€™ve seen Bianca Stoneā€™s reports for yearsā€¦

Michael Felgate presented sport in Melbourne this weekend.

Other people are allowed to make those too, Luke.

I completely agree.

Forget waiting until March next year, I personally think itā€™ll be very interesting to see what the ratings of Seven News Sydney are like on Friday & Saturday nights when Nine has the cricket as a lead-in.

This weekend will be the first real test (no pun intended) for Michael Usherā€™s Seven News Sydney, as Nine airs itā€™s (albeit shortened) Sydney 6pm news during the tea break of the cricket from Perthā€¦

I would have thought that Nine News ratings with a test match lead-in would not be a good barometer for their news ratings performance.

Thanks Mark Ferguson, for interrupting & ruining the flow of the Melbourne Cup coverageā€¦

Interest rates :expressionless:

Thereā€™s a thing called news updates mate.
