Be like what?
I saw nothing wrong with the posting. Maybe the user thought you were having a go at them.
I wasnât at all. Guess itâs part of the easily offended world we now live in.
Usually wouldnât give any merit to anything Annette Sharp writes, however, buried under the usual Sam Armytage crap and an unsubtle dig at Karl is probably some truth: Melissa Doyleâs contract looking unlikely to be renewed - as has been discussed here a lot. Sharp is right about one thing in this - Seven would say something to deny if there wasnât any truth to it.
If they want to save money, go back to a national 4pm bulletin hosted by Mel Doyle.
So the money would be saved because the current state based presenters would be sacked?
So they sack about 30 ppl around the network⌠to save Mel Doyle??
I donât profess to know their finances but I presume the hosts and reporters would be re-deployed on their state 6pm bulletins, most file stories for both anyway⌠and I imagine that one national 4pm bulletin would be cheaper than one in each state⌠then they could axe The Latest if they need to, not that Iâd like to see that happenâŚ
They need to be careful letting her go⌠if she pops up on Weekend Today for example, it could backfireâŚ
Would she go to 60 Mins? Canât see anything for her at 10. Maybe sheâll leave TV altogether - whichâd be really sad.
I wouldâve loved a national bulletin with Mel but unfortunately l think he television career is coming to an end.
*career on Seven
You obviously think she will end up at another network?
I just wouldnât rule it out. But equally wouldnât expect it to happen immediately.
A few years back, Nine would have grabbed her at any opportunity. Obviously things have changed a lot but TV always surprises.
Would anyone here be genuinely surprised to hear that Melissa Doyle is unlikely to have her contact renewed though? Itâs not as if sheâs done much on the network so far this year.
Personally I wouldnât be unhappy if Mel were to leave the Seven Network because for someone whoâs been loyal to them for the better part of 25 years, sheâs been treated disgustingly by the network since she left (Or was pushed from? I reckon Mel should one day write a Malcolm Turnbull-like book which reveals the full story about that and other events!) Sunrise in 2013. Shafted from the Afternoon News, shafted from Sydneyâs Friday/Saturday night news, Sunday Night axed and all sheâs really been doing on Seven lately is filling in on The Latest?
Besides with commitments to Smooth FM (which is probably now more prestigious than her current role at Seven, especially from a Sydney market perspective) + as an ambassador to the GWS Giants and the various other causes she supports, itâs not as if Mel would no longer have a public profile if she were to depart Seven.
At the end of the day, Mel is a great talent, we all know that.
Seven would love to keep her on, but sheâs an overhead they canât financially keep on in this environment.
I think it wouldnât hurt to exercise the idea that Mel might not want to renew her contract with 7 either and is simply waiting for it to expire.
Correct. Sheâs a smart woman and Iâve got no doubt she would take this personal. In the background she could be planning and working on the next chapter of her career.
It will be a shame to see Mel leave Seven, but given the current climate it seems pretty obvious that it will happen.
That is unless of course unless they can find/create some sort of fixed (ie; not just filling-in on The Latest) role for her in the next few months.
Not saying thatâll happen or even thereâs a chance it could happen - just think such a possibility canât be ruled out either
