17/06/2020:
Tina Altieri is presenting Perth’s Afternoon News today.
Thursday 18 June-
With Jane Bunn away again today Melina Sarris presenting weather in Melbourne.
Tim Watson is presenting sport in Melbourne from the MCG tonight.
Friday (19.06.2020): Edwina Bartholomew presented the Early News today.
Sharnelle Vella has announced on Twitter that she will be the new State Political Reporter.
Sorry don’t know how to attach a tweet
You just post the link to the tweet (eg; https://twitter.com/SharnelleVella/status/1273794957778620416 - without the brackets)
Sharnelle has very big shoes to fill.
I find Laurel tends to report the big news of the day. She’s covered the Courts, Covid, the missing boy case on location etc recently.
They are probably trying to utilise her as they do call her “senior reporter” in the newsroom
Interesting choice on Donohue’s replacement. Wonder who’ll replace Sharnelle as Court Reporter? I’m thinking maybe Cassie Zervos as she worked for the Herald Sun prior as a Crime Reporter before joining Seven.
Friday 19 June-
Tom Browne is presenting sport on Afternoon News in Melbourne today.
So with Ryan Phelan leaving Seven after today’s announcement of the axing of The Daily Edition, and Jim Wilson leaving the network soon to join 2GB, I think Jim’s role as network sports editor won’t be replaced.
Did Jim present sport tonight in Sydney?
Probably not. As mentioned before, you’d now have to imagine that Michelle Bishop and Matt Carmichael are now the hot favourites to become the new Friday/Saturday night Sports presenter on Seven News Sydney.
What I’d really like to know (but probably won’t) is if Mark Ferguson has had his contract renewed. The media reports from 2015 - which aren’t always reliable - suggested that Fergo signed a five year contract around the middle of that year so presumably this agreement is set to expire soon unless it’s since been extended.
He presented Sport during the 4pm bulletin, so most likely.
Yes Jim did present sport in Sydney tonight, Jim’s last day at Seven will be Saturday 27 June.
It was roughly sometime between June 19-20-21 2015, IIRC.
It looks like Ryan Phelan may have more time to present sport now that the Daily Edition will be axed on the day before Jim Wilson leaves.
Not really. He has been let go from Seven.
Wow - that part wasn’t mentioned in the Australian article!
Its common knowledge now both Ryan and Sally were fired.
Thanks - evidently I wasn’t aware, or I wouldn’t have commented. No need to be like that, let’s keep it kind on here.
