Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

Melbourne seems to have reverted back to the Sun - Thu with Peter and Fri - Sat with Mike roster.

Nice if they kept it consistent instead of constantly changing it.

I don’t think she will, given she hasn’t presented in a while. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they made the sports editor role redundant now. Matt Carmichael the likely in-house candidate for 6pm and they might hire a junior reporter. But, I like the idea of Matt White returning.

Mel is their strongest and most versatile female presenter by far. It’d be a mistake to let her go.

I like the Sun-Thurs done by Peter Mitchell and Fri-Sat done by Mike Amor

Any idea yet as to when Jim finishes up at Seven?

Jim heading to the Nine stable means he has almost come full circle, he was a sports reporter for Nine through the late 80’s and early 90’s before joining Seven. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is given the sports presenter role in the near future.

Totally. He could even take back the weeknight presenting role he held during the Ian Ross era, but if Seven wanted to keep Mel McLaughlin in her current role, White could do Fridays and Saturdays.

If I remember correctly, White regularly did Fridays and Saturdays on Sports Tonight in the late 90s-early 2000s?

With Mike Amor presenting from Tuesday to Thursday.

Honestly the Melbourne presenting team is getting tired out
Needs a refresh and fast
I’m not necessarily saying this is contributing to their ratings here, but it would be good to see some different people taking roles

Laurel Irving looks to have replaced Brendan Donohue as State Political Reporter in Melbourne. Laurel has been reporting on State Politics since his departure I have noticed.

Do we expect Jim to still feature on the Morning News & Sydney Afternoon News this week, or only have him present sport on Sydney’s 6pm news on Friday and Saturday (since he appeared on 2GB various times today speaking about his new role)? Or will they still have him stay on his normal presenting roster until he leaves?

He deserves a good send-off after so many years of service to the network.

I think Jim’s gone. I expect Ryan to do the Morning News sport with Matt Carmichael on 6pm, at least until/if there is an official replacement.

Surely the Sport segment during Saturday night’s Sydney 6pm bulletin was the last time we saw Jim Wilson on Seven?

The next time Jim appears on TV, I think it’ll be on Nine.

That is one option, another would be:

Mondays and Fridays - Jacqui Felgate (from Melbourne)
Tuesdays-Thursdays - Mel McLaughlin (this would give her the same on-air time as David Brown, who already does the weather on the Morning, Sydney afternoon and Sydney 6:00pm news).

We’ll just have to wait and see.
