Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

I just revisited the article about Sharyn and Bill replacing Rod and Kay back in 2013. Here is the bit where it only mentions that Kay is happy with the new role:

No he’s not leaving the network, however he worked with Kay for 14 years and dominated in Brisbane for 5 of those years. It was a perfect opportunity to get a big plug in for the Gold Coast news. They didn’t even bother with that.

To do a walk down memory lane would have involved having to admit 7 made a massive blunder replacing their number one newsreaders with the B team and watching the ratings plummet as a result

But they’re on the way back…lol…they won last week and another a week or so ago
So true. Their colleagues have this week been drumming out that the duo are their favourites or the best, but what I ask is Why remove them from the main seat if they are the best or most experienced? You can’t even use the ratings argument as they were in a winning position and Seven News across the board wasn’t in a well position. Sharyn did/does deserve the main chair but at a given time when Kay decided to step down. As for Bill, I liked him on Ten, but I can’t even watch him now.

If any market needs a change of it’s main 6pm newsreader (or the bulletin in general) on Seven, it’s definitely Sydney ahead of the others by quite a considerable margin for reasons that don’t really need explaining.

Also, I completely agree that it was a pretty poor farewell to Rod Young on tonight’s Seven News Queensland! Sure he’s not retiring or leaving the network but quite a large number of viewers will no longer see him on their screens, so I think even just a short “highlights” package of Rod’s 14 years or so on the Brisbane news would’ve been appreciated by viewers.

Sydney was/is certainly a debacle. Ferguson replacing Bath was definitely a mistake as shown by the ratings. Seven was trailing Nine but within reach. . Brisbane was actual an even bigger mistake as Rod and Kay had an extremely comfortable lead over Nine. Messing with Brisbane was insanity.

Saturday (02.07.16): Sharyn Ghidella back in her former seat this evening, flying solo on a shortened edition of Seven News ( Seven News should continue with these 30 minute bulletins).

Are the main anchors anchoring tonight in the other states? (I believe Chris Reason read last night in Sydney and Mark Fergo tonight. Correct?)

Sally Bowrey presenting Sunday 5pm bulletin.

Jennifer Keyte presented last night in Melbourne but is away tonight with Nick Etchells filling in for her.

Sunday (03.07.16): Sharyn Ghidella in for Kay McGrath who I assume is on holidays. Rather interesting hauling in your weeknight newsreader who will have done 12 days straight I assume by this coming Friday when Seven Brisbane has so many fill-ins ( in particular Katrina Blowers and Max Futcher who both reporting tonight, maybe they don’t think they are good enough to go solo). Also, last night Nine News Brisbane flogged Seven News Brisbane. This is evident that viewers prefer the weeknight team on Nine and Kay McGrath on Seven.

7News has beaten 9, 3 weeks out of the last 4, week nights.

Peter Mitchell certainly has had a lot of time off since December 2015. 6 weeks at Xmas, 2 weeks at Easter, 1 week in late June and plenty of single day absences.

Nick Etchells said in closer he hopes Peter is watching and feeling better to be back tomorrow night.
Very average presenter, but hopefully she will improve with practice.

There was a technical hitch with the surf/beach report and that led (I think) to a very long closing theme being played.
Thank god it stopped, I nearly fell asleep. Surely they didn’t need to hire him since Paul is their “coastal expert”.
