Patty appreared on the afternoon news and then was highlighted in the 6pm bulletin.
Gonna say something (maybe?) controversial. On the Adelaide news tonight, Will open without the traditional “good evening”, and it sounded extremely wrong?
Is it me? Or does a formal greeting that welcomes the viewer every night just sound more welcoming?
Also, to the disappointment of maybe a few, a live cross to Blake Johnson mentioned him as “aviation editor”
He’s been referred to that for a while.
Why can’t she keep reading news?
It was in response to the comments about Seven’s new national afternoon program and the local afternoon news’ possibly being axed/rested, as well as Natarsha Belling’s position at the network. Just hypotheticals. I personally hope Ann stays around until she wishes to actually retire
High Steaks: Anthony De Ceglie talks about leaving Seven and his plans for Perth Bears
The newly appointed boss of the Perth Bears NRL franchise talks to Buzz Rothfield about his tumultuous departure from Channel 7 – and the bitter media pile-on that followed.
Some excerpts
“I learnt a long time ago to ignore the noise. At the end of the day, I’ve always been the sort of person to take bold steps, take risks and swing for home runs,” De Ceglie says.
“It would be pretty ironic if I was to complain about criticism when I’ve been an editor of a tabloid newspaper.
“I don’t think I’d do anything differently. You’ve got to take chances and you’ve got to be prepared to fail.”
He insists has no regrets.
“Not at all,” he said. “I had 6½ years at Seven West Media and cherished every minute of it.
“The opportunity in the NRL came at the right time in my life – that why I left.”
The whispering campaign against him has been vicious, with his decision to introduce horoscopes and satire into the nightly news bulletins brought up as examples of a leader who was out of his depth rather than innovative.
If De Ceglie is hurt by the criticism he is not showing it. He’s upbeat, buoyant and confident as we sit down for a steak in the (Norths Leagues) club bistro.
Because the writing was on the wall. He knew Seven would sack him. It was only a matter of time.
And every decision at Seven was a strike. His only legacy will be tarnishing the news division and turning it into a national laughing stock.
I get the desire to try something different and take some risks. But as anyone who has ever watched Moneyball knows, sometimes you just have to get on base, and every time he stepped up to bat, he struck out.
7 in Brisbane needs to decide on a campaign.
“Unstoppable” still features at the end of their coffee shop visits promo. TV ads say “7News Brisbane. Live at 6”, radio ads say, “Tonight on Queensland’s 7 News.”
I know typos on supers happen pretty often, but I had to post this one from the Melbourne bulletin tonight.
Oh, shit!
I’d reckon the producers are from NZ
What?
