typically every year or even less in some cases
The average is probably closer to every six months for Nine and Seven. The ABC has been running with #knowthestory for the past year, but then again anything Aunty does seems to age much better than Nine or Seven.
I could see Seven News getting a rebrand in a few weeks. The network as a whole is heading toward a refresh, with all the Feb 1 stuff and arrow motifs being rolled out. I wonder if they’ll use the arrow motif for their news branding too…
7 Perth opened the bulletin the other night with both Rick and Sue introducing the lead story with a wide shot of both of them. I wish they did this more often instead of cutting straight to an individual presenter.
Totally agree. There seems to be a lack of any promotion for Sharyn and Bill over summer compared to the new presenter based promos in Sydney and Melbourne. It’s a bit suspicious.
Although to be fair, Seven probably need to take a different approach to the promotion of dual presented bulletins in Queensland (and Adelaide/Perth for that matter too) compared to the solely presenter-based promos that run in Sydney and Melbourne.
While I’m here, Mark Ferguson returns to Seven News Sydney on Monday night. Promotion wise, there’s really nothing to say other than the fact that “Mark Ferguson returns to Seven News…” is being used as a VO line at the end of the “Special Report” (this one’s on Speed Cameras and probably wouldn’t look too out of place on Today Tonight or A Current Affair!) and pre-existing “What Is Experience?” promos. Pretty low key even compared to the 20 Second Promo that Nine is running for Peter Overton’s return on Sunday night.

Because he had eye surgery and has been recovering. Had nothing to do with holidays
I know and I said nothing to do with holidays. I was pointing out the fact that Queensland hasn’t seen Bill Macdonald now I would say for two months, instead Rod Young and Max Futcher, so it will be difficult and unusual to have him back.

Seven Brisbane should start the new year by reverting back to Kay and Rod on weekdays. The switch was a bad idea and has seen Seven go from a comfortable lead in the ratings to trailing.
Couldn’t agree more. Rod and Kay should be back were they belong, and if IIRC, when they did their two week stint the week before Christmas ratings were slightly stronger.

Very fair and important point.
Bill had eye surgery early December, and complications arose shortly before Christmas. He’s on extended leave, but hopefully he’s well on the mend and will be back soon.
Mr Peter Mitchell is also back tomorrow. A promo advising of Melbourne’s most dangerous Train Station just aired and concluded with ‘When Peter Mitchell returns to Seven News on Monday’
Pretty low key, especially since last years promo for the return. (Well for Fergo I should say)
Responding to some discussion in the Presenters & Reporters thread because it’s more relevant here..
The Weather forecasts during Seven’s 6pm bulletins are presented live. If they were to be all pre-recorded, you couldn’t do the current temperatures (“Today we reached a top of 28 degrees and right now it’s 23…”) at the top of the forecast anymore.
I definitely think that a “Weather Centre” area is something that Seven (or indeed, any Australian TV network) should try out, but have one in each city. I’m not sure about Adelaide & Perth, but I definitely think that such a concept would work well in the East Coast cities.
