and the fact that Kochie is a national presenter, thats well recognised in both Adelaide and Perth.
Kochie flown into Melbourne. It was actually a really good special.
Was interesting to see Jen and Kochie sitting next to each other at the end of the normal bulletin.
David Brown observing that the dust storm currently enveloping Melbourne is the biggest he has seen since the week prior to the Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983âŚ
Itâs quite amazing, you can see the dust blowing through the city backdrop behind Jen.
Seven Perth running a brawl in a McDonalds store in Melbourne as its second story of the night.
Didnât see it, but guess it took them a while to actually state it was in Melbourne too? They always do this with interstate storiesâŚ
It was about the third story in Melbourne as we had wall-to-wall coverage for the first 7 minutes of the dust and wind storm.
Seven News also has a Chopper Cam for Opera House Evacuation

7 news coverage in Melbourne last night was amateur to the coverage on Nine. They had one cross to Jacqueline Felgate but that was it and just packages.
9News had a live cross from the beach and then another reporter in the city. As soon as news of the Spirit of Tasmania broke, they were straight onto footage sent in. Went to an ad break and were back with a live cross from the location. Then to another cross in the city with damage to a building in Carlton.
Seven took a further 10 minutes to just get a still image up of it the Spirit, then no follow up aside from footage well after and then moved on.
9 just seem to be able to access breaking news and be on the ground quicker than Seven. They were very snappy with how they covered it all, where as Seven seemed half asleep.
Anyway just my thoughts.
Nine already had a crew in Port Melbourne so it mightâve been a bit of luck.
What ne about? Dropping the presenter intro at the start of the bulletin?
Surely the presenter saying âOn Seven News tonightâŚâ before the headlines isnât new to Melbourne?
The presenter saying âOn Seven News tonightâ is actually new to Melbourne (99% sure) and the other change is a more detailed explanation of the top stories.
YeahâŚSydney has been running with that line as a bulletin starter ever since they started the (now dropped) format of headlines with the newsreader & superimposed footage on screen in mid-2014.
Didnât, just after Sydney began the new style opener, Melbourne copied that and in that clip, that was removed. I did, though, notice the headlines were longer.
Could this Monday be a re-launch? Looks like Bill McDonald and Sharyn Ghidella are returning on Monday in Brisbane as well. Could be a good time with no morning or afternoon bulletins.
my God, that HSV opener just⌠kept⌠going. I was bored half way through.
Openers should be punchy, to the point and brief⌠not a news update.
Where did you see that? Most of this year, the endtags have featured Sharyn and Bill and Rod and Kay even if they arenât presenting. BTW, I think it is about time Bill returned, I think the last time he presented was in early November.
Because he had eye surgery and has been recovering. Had nothing to do with holidays.
Seven Brisbane should start the new year by reverting back to Kay and Rod on weekdays. The switch was a bad idea and has seen Seven go from a comfortable lead in the ratings to trailing.
I doubt it. Promo graphics are generally refreshed more often (typically every year or even less in some cases) than those used in the actual bulletinsâŚat both Seven and Nine, I might add.
Although I really hope that Seven News gets a relaunch sometime this year. The current look isnât great IMO.
