We don’t go local on weekends. However wouldn’t be surprised if they do today due to fire coverage.

They’ve been using it on their promos for a few months now.
Is that the mission theme nbc use should use this has there opening theme
Here in Sydney, initially the promos used an exact variant of “The Mission” that NBC currently use.
But in more recent promos (such as the latest one for Mark Ferguson), the music has been remixed slightly to sound a bit more dramatic and perhaps a bit more serious.

First time i’ve heard the NBC style Mission theme in Perth, usually it is the usual “nobody knows news like seven”’
I am really hoping they do change the main theme to the NBC version (more than likely in the next week or two), I never been a huge fan of the 2004 version I didn’t mind the 1999 version but I am a huge fan of the NBC version. I am also hoping for a graphics change.

Would the current mix of The Mission that NBC Nightly News use really work on Seven News? Don’t get me wrong, that’s a great theme and all but the current NBC version of The Mission is designed for a bulletin which has a slower, more in-depth format like NBC Nightly News.
The current NBC Nightly News theme would probably work OK for the likes of Prime7/Seven Local News which have a slower and arguably “more relaxed” format, but I personally think that the national and metropolitan Seven News bulletins would probably need a version of the theme music that has a slightly faster pace to suit the pace (especially with all those stings and swooshes, etc.) of national/metro bulletins.

That’s something Seven News needs to change though. This fast paced, low attention span presentation of News is bad! It obviously hasn’t been working for Seven. Look at their numbers.
I do love the classic Mission theme, but then again if they adopt it entirely it just shows a total lack of creatively. A blatant copy of another theme. Why can’t they create one. It shows some brains. Just like they did in 1999.
However if they use the classic NBC theme, it certainly could work, they also need to change the presentation style to match it!

New style opener in Melbourne tonight.
Jen started with ‘On Seven News tonight’ and more than headlines she pretty much read an update on each of the 5 stories featured. The opener went for at least one minute. Hopefully someone has recorded it. Unfortunately I didn’t tonight.
Small changes here and there. Typical Seven.

It was timed perfectly to the theme tune running out and playing into the climax introductory sequence. Quite good if you ask me. Hopefully someone has video captured it!

Nothing involving that theme can be good. It needs to go. Let’s hope 2016 is finally the year 7 updates that Mission theme to either the classic original Mission or a refreshed 21st century Misson
I’d have no issue with them going back to the 1999 version. The NBC version is tired and dated.

I plus 1 your comment dude. I love/d the 1999 Mission theme. It’s soo modern sounding. Was so ahead of its time for 1999. If Seven News revert back to that theme in the coming weeks it certainly won’t be a bad thing.
Believe it or not I have the 1999 Mission on my Mp3 player in my car and whenever I need to be pumped up before doing something nerve wrecking, I play that. It works! Haha

I think after the failed attempt in 2013, execs are a little wary about updating it. I think if they just re-jigged the intro music bringing into the year 2016, that would be awesome. But hey I’ll believe it when I see it

Felgate was promoting all the special coverage on the Essendon drug crisis during the extensive coverage on the afternoon news but no mention of tonight’s 7pm special.
I’m guessing the news special will be coming from Sydney, as Kochie is hosting?

Kosh is hosting due to his links to the AFL (Port Adelaide) I presume.
I still think it should have been Mitchell hosting, but I understand the decision. He probably would have fumbled through it anyway.
