That lens flare at the top LHS of the image on the backdrop is so annoying, not to mention that theme song, the graphics package and the weird angle which the sports presenter sits on when in the same shot as the presenter. I don’t like that they throw to one another in the first couple of mine for an overview of what’s coming up either. Since when have they used the tag line, ‘first at 4’?

How the newsreader, sport presenter and weather presenter says what is coming up in their respective fields has been around since about 2015, not long after Matt White left the Afternoon News. The tagline ‘First at Four’ has been used IIRC ever since this style of opener began.

‘First at 4’ (spoken and visual transition) was first used back when Mel Doyle and Matt White launched the bulletin in 2013, IIRC.

Why is it that the weather presenters of this bulletin always say “more detail in 10 minutes”, it just doesn’t sound natural… “More details in 10 minutes” would suit it better?
No, I’m pretty sure it was after they dropped back to a single presenter. I remember the new graphic being discussed in the old forums, late-2014 or the beginning of 2015. The spoken part was in use before the graphic was introduced though.

You’re probably right. I can visualize Mel’s face and the graphic. Either way, it’s been used for years.
7 News Brisbane having their best week in a while ratings-wise. Will have to wait to see if it has anything to do with it being school hols or part of a mini-fightback.

Would be great to see a fight back. 9News Brisbane, especially weekends, is a shocking production and really doesn’t deserve to be so far ahead. Mind you, it’s only No 1 in SEQ; 7 is No 1 and very strong across the rest of the state.

[/quote] I am not sure what you mean by production- yes the 9 weekend News always seem to have major technical difficulties. IMO, I don’t think Seven neither deserve to be number 1 during the week by a mile anyway. In fact Seven News’ current state they probably don’t deserve the crown at all-nationally. [/quote] I have no doubt that Seven Local News at 6 plays a major part in Seven News Brisbane being Queensland’s number 1. And then on the other hand, 9 Gold Coast News plays a major role in 9 News win in the SE.

If you ask me, I think that Seven News Sydney may slowly be turning into Seven News Queensland 2.0 if it hasn’t already done so.
